An image forming device having a rotatable drum, at least one printhead mounted adjacent to the rotatable drum, and a printhead service station. The printhead and rotatable drum together define a print zone in which fluid travels from the printhead towards the rotatable drum, and the printhead service station is within the print zone.

In accordance with one embodiment, a system comprises a print head assembly comprising a plurality of ink-ejecting nozzles and a drying station downstream of the print head assembly and configured to produce and emit air proximate a print media. A deflector is mounted between the print head assembly and the drying station and is configured to deflect an amount of the air that is produced by the drying station.

Contamination management system and method

A method of one embodiment of the invention is disclosed that reduces misalignment of a pair of staggered fluid ejector assemblies positioned along a first axis perpendicular to a second axis along which media moves past the assemblies. The method reduces misalignment of the pair of staggered fluid ejector assemblies along the first axis. Fluid bands are output by different series of nozzles of each assembly. The method then selects as a series of active nozzles of each assembly one of the different series of nozzles outputting one of the fluid bands that is substantially aligned with one of the fluid bands output by the other assembly.

A method of operating an inkjet printer comprises forming an image on a media sheet by ejecting ink from an orifice array of an inkjet printhead at a print zone, capturing moist atmosphere from said printed image at a moisture removal zone and conducting moist atmosphere to said orifice array. An inkjet printing mechanism is provided including means for removing moisture from a printed sheet of media and means for conducting moisture removed from said printed sheet to an inkjet orifice array at a print zone.

An inkjet printing system for printing on a print medium having a top-of-form (TOF) indicator includes a printhead assembly, a top-of-form (TOF) detector adapted to detect the TOF indicator, a positional sensor adapted to sense a relative position of the print medium to the printhead assembly, and a controller associated with the printhead assembly, the TOF detector, and the positional sensor. The printhead assembly includes a first printhead subarray and a second printhead subarray offset from the first printhead subarray such that the controller is configured to initiate operation of the first printhead subarray after the TOF detector detects the TOF indicator and initiate operation of the second printhead subarray at a predetermined interval after the TOF detector detects the TOF indicator. As such, the predetermined interval is related to the relative position of the print medium.

A print cartridge receptacle assembly including a first modular print cartridge receptacle for removably receiving and supporting a single first print cartridge, a second modular print cartridge receptacle for removably receiving and supporting a single second print cartridge, a separate locking mechanism on the first and second modular print cartridge receptacles for individually locking the first and second print cartridges in the modular print receptacles, and alignment surfaces on the first and second modular print cartridge receptacles for aligning and interlocking the first modular print cartridge with the second modular print cartridge. First and second print cartridge driver circuits are mounted on the first and second modular print cartridge receptacles and electrically connected with first and second electrical interconnects. The print cartridge receptacle assembly is usable in a printing system in conjunction with a mechanism for traversing the modular print cartridge receptacle assembly over a print zone and a media moving mechanism for passing media through the print zone. The invention provides for a modular printing system which allows for flexibility in the design of printers for particular or unique applications. The invention allows for modular print cartridge receptacles to be assembled together to quickly produce a functional specialized printing system.

Inkjet printing systems using a modular print cartridge assembly

Disclosed is a modular print cartridge receptacle including a housing for removably receiving and supporting a single print cartridge; a locking mechanism on the housing for locking the print cartridge in the housing; and alignment surfaces on the housing for aligning and interlocking the housing with a second housing, the housing being used separately or in conjunction with a second housing. Also disclosed is a modular print cartridge receptacle including a housing for removably receiving and supporting a single print cartridge; a locking mechanism on the housing for locking the print cartridge in the housing; and a print cartridge driver circuit mounted on the housing and electrically connected with electrical interconnects on the housing for receiving signals from a printer and also electrically interconnected with electrodes on the housing for transmitting signals to the print cartridge when the print cartridge is installed in the housing, the housing being used separately or in conjunction with a second housing. The disclosed is a modular print cartridge receptacle for providing a flexible modular printing system which allows for flexibility in the design of printers for particular or unique applications. The invention allows for multiple modular print cartridge receptacles to be assembled together to quickly produce a functional specialized printing system.

Modular print cartridge receptacle for use in inkjet printing systems

A sheet feeding device for a photographic image forming device which has a print part, such as an inkjet. A non-stationary sheet pick device pushes the separated sheet out of the paper tray in an upward angle. Then the separated sheet is pushed towards a sheet feeding roller which in turn forces the sheet through a radius, so that the trailing edge never touches the roller. Then the roller reverses the rotation direction and pushes the sheet backwards. A sheet path control device forces the sheet into a new paper path direction, onto the print table and towards the final sheet advance roller. Forcing the sheet through a radius and providing a paper path which wraps around the print mechanism enables miniaturization of the entire device.
