Described herein are depolymerized polystyrene resins derived from polystyrene source resins. The depolymerized polystyrene resins undergo a depolymerization in which chemical bonds are cleaved, producing depolymerized polystyrene resins of lower molecular weight. The polystyrene resins may be modified by chemical reaction with monomers, polymers, and oligomers, such as acrylates thereof. Also described are ink and coating compositions that include the depolymerized and modified polystyrene resins.

High molecular weight polystyrene in inks and coatings

Described herein are compositions suitable for use as binder components for inclusion in printing inks and coatings, such as those used in the gravure and flexographic printing process and which are printed on substrates such as polyolefin (e.g., polyethylene, polypropylene) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET). The compositions are non-aqueous dispersions in which an one or more ethylenically unsaturated acrylates or (meth)acrylates is polymerized with a polyurethane, polyurethane-urea or polyurea in a non-aqueous polymerization medium, such as esters, ketones, and mixtures thereof, forming polymeric hybrid resins in the polymerization medium, which are solvent-dispersible hybrid resins of polyurethane-polyacrylate, polyurethane-urea-polyacrylate, and polyurea-polyacrylate. Films of hybrid resins are also disclosed. These materials exhibit improved film adhesion and are suitable for flexographic and gravure printing inks, especially for printing applications where adhesive lamination bond strengths are required, especially plastic films packaging applications.

Polyurethane-polyacrylate hybrid systems for packaging inks and coatings

Described herein are alkoxylated polymers suitable for use in primers, inks or coating compositions. The alkoxylated polymers derive from a polyalkylene glycol polymer or copolymer backbone having one or more alkoxylated sites in a non-reactive form and at least one reactive terminal end, and one or more polyfunctional monomers or oligomers having two or more functional polar groups with an active hydrogen, or mixtures thereof, wherein the alkoxylated polymer is polymerized in a one step process. Primers, inks or coating compositions are further described.

Alkoxylated dispersing agents

The present invention is directed to polyester resins which are prepared by depolymerizing virgin, scrap, recycled or reclaimed polyethylene terephthalate (PET) via an alcoholysis reaction with one or more polyhydric alcohols to form a depolymerization product and esterifying the depolymerization product with one or more polybasic carboxylic acids and/or anhydrides and optionally polyhydric alcohol to form a polyester polyol. The polyester may then be acrylated with acrylic acid to form a polyester acrylate resin. The polyester resins are then used in energy curable coating compositions or inks and in particular, the polyester acrylate resin is suitably used as a reactive binder/oligomer.

Process for preparing polyester resins from polyethylene terephthalate and energy curable coating compositions

The present invention describes a linear polyester resin comprising a di-epoxide monomer and a di-acid monomer useful in energy curable lithographic inks. The linear polyester resin exhibits a number average molecular weight less than 20,000. The present invention also describes an energy curable lithographic ink formulation including the linear polyester resin. The ink exhibits improved print density, print contrast, water window and rheological (total body) characteristics.

A laundry detergent formulation includes a dirt suspending agent which is a blend of an anionic material, such as an anionic polymer, and a quaternary ammonium salt. This suspending agent prevents redeposition of dirt which is removed from clothing by a laundry detergent from redepositing onto cleaned clothes during the wash cycle, while allowing it to be removed completely during the rinse cycle.

A micro-emulsified fragrance composition provides an effective fragrance delivery system when present in a laundry composition, e.g. a laundry fabric softener formulation, or when delivered from a substrate. This composition can deposit a substantial amount of fragrance material onto the surface intended for deposition during the wash, rinse, dry, or post-dry cycles.
