A latch is designed to attain and keep full engagement of a sub-assembly in a chassis and to increase the reliability and longevity of connectors by increasing the chances that they remain fully engaged even in the presence of shock and vibration.

A keyed filler panel with integrated recessed region for attaching device is disclosed. In one embodiment, the present invention includes a filler panel body. The present embodiment also includes a recessed portion integral with the filler panel body. The recessed portion is fixedly coupled with the filler panel body, and adapted to receive an attaching device for removably coupling the filler panel body with respect to a chassis.

A card cage includes first and second card cage walls; a first, upper pair of members, comprising a front and a rear member, supported between the first and second card cage walls; a second, lower pair of members, comprising a front and a rear member, supported between the first and second card cage walls; a backplane supported between the front members and the rear members; and a plurality of alignment pins. The alignment pins are inserted through corresponding holes in the backplane and the front and rear members.

A keyed filler panel assembly for removable coupling of a filler panel body with respect to a chassis is disclosed. In one embodiment, the present invention is comprised of a filler panel body. The present embodiment is further comprised of a handle element integral with the filler panel body. The handle element is fixedly coupled with the filler panel body, and adapted to provide a grasping surface above the filler panel body such that removably coupling the filler panel body with respect to a chassis is simplified.

A bladed server with a chassis having a front and rear is provided. A plurality of blades is disposed within the chassis so that opposing faces and a faceplate of each of the plurality of blades are substantially perpendicular to the front and rear of the chassis. The plurality of blades includes at least one server blade. One or more fans are located at at least one of the front and rear of the chassis such that a flow-path at at least one of an inlet and exit of the one or more fans is substantially parallel to the opposing faces and faceplate of each of the plurality of blades.

Bladed servers

A card cage having a series of circuit board slots may be modified using various components of a circuit board adapter. The card cage has a series of slots, each slot having common dimensions and including card guides adapted to house a full height circuit board card by holding a top end and a bottom end of the full height circuit board card. Each modified slot also includes a set of cooperating vertical support member guides located within the slot which cooperate to house the vertical support member within the slot by holding the top end and the bottom end thereof. The vertical support member supports an intermediate card guide which cooperates with at least one of the card guides to house a smaller circuit board within the slot by holding a top end and a bottom end therebetween. Thus, when the intermediate card guide is removed from the slot, a full vertical height circuit board card may be inserted within the slot. When the intermediate card guides are located within the slot, one or more smaller vertical height circuit card guides may be housed within the slot. As an example, a 6U compact PCI circuit board slot can be converted to house two 3U sized compact PCI circuit board cards. This is accomplished without impinging upon the dimensions of any of the adjacent slots. The circuit board adapter may be provided as an adapter kit for use in modifying a circuit board slot. In addition, a circuit board slot may be provided with a set of standard circuit board card guides and a set of vertical support member guides to allow its selective use with alternately sized circuit board cards. A method is also provided for adapting a circuit board slot to accommodate one or more smaller vertical height circuit boards utilizing the various components of the adapter.

Multiple circuit board adapter

A protective cover for attachment to an electrical connector having a pair of spaced, parallel upstanding walls with a plurality of exposed electrical contacts disposed between inner surfaces of the upstanding walls. The protective cover includes a planar top wall, a pair of spaced, parallel planar side walls and a pair of spaced, parallel planar end walls. The planar side and end walls engage the outer surfaces of the upstanding walls of the electrical connector to removably secure the protective cover to the electrical connector such that the protective cover enshrouds the electrical contacts to protect the electrical contacts from damage and prevent accumulation of dust particles on the electrical contacts. Each of the planar side and end walls has a lower free edge that is radiused to form a lead-in feature that aids in aligning and sliding the protective cover onto the upstanding walls of the electrical connector. The planar top, side and end walls are formed of a semi-rigid vinyl plastic film having static charge dissipative characteristics.
