Method, apparatus and program product are provided for controlling the number of symbols presented on an vehicle electronic map display by using a first threshold constant for the number of symbols to be presented in FULL detail and a second threshold constant for the number of symbols to be presented in MINIMUM detail. In a first embodiment, the total number of selected symbols is compared to the threshold constants for each symbol type. In a second embodiment, the number of symbols of each type is compared to the respective threshold constants for each type. Excessive map clutter is avoided without regard to the map range selected by the user and for both high density and sparse map regions.

Electronic map display declutter

The present invention provides systems, apparatus and methods for entering data into a flight plan entry field which facilitates the display and editing of aircraft flight-plan data. In one embodiment, the present invention provides a method for entering multiple waypoint and procedure identifiers at once within a single a flight plan entry field. In another embodiment, the present invention provides for the partial entry of any waypoint or procedure identifiers, and thereafter relating the identifiers with an aircraft's flight management system to anticipate the complete text entry for display. In yet another embodiment, the present invention discloses a method to automatically provide the aircraft operator with selectable prioritized arrival and approach routing identifiers by a single manual selection. In another embodiment, the present invention is a method for providing the aircraft operator with selectable alternate patterns to a new runway.

Method and system for entering data within a flight plan entry field

A method for expediting the entry of a radio frequency into a radio control device by allowing entry of only a portion of the actual frequency desired comprising the steps of parsing the portion of the actual frequency entered, comparing the portion of the actual frequency entered to known characteristics of permissible frequencies, choosing a permissible frequency that is uniquely compatible with the portion of the actual frequency entered, and entering the uniquely compatible frequency into the radio control device.

Method for simplifying manual radio frequency entries

A system and method compares combinations of vehicle variable values against known combinations of potentially dangerous vehicle input signal values. Alarms and error messages are selectively generated based on such comparisons. An aircraft signal definition is provided to enable definition and monitoring of sets of aircraft input signals to customize such signals for different aircraft. The input signals are compared against known combinations of potentially dangerous values by operational software and hardware of a monitoring function. The aircraft signal definition is created using a text editor or custom application. A compiler receives the aircraft signal definition to generate a binary file that comprises the definition of all the input signals used by the monitoring function. The binary file also contains logic that specifies how the inputs are to be interpreted. The file is then loaded into the monitor function, where it is validated and used to continuously monitor the condition of the aircraft.

A method and system for displaying a flight plan such that an entire flight plan is viewable through the use of scrolling devices is disclosed. The flight plan display may also include a method and system for collapsing and expanding a flight plan display, have provisions for the conspicuous marking of changes to a flight plan, the use of tabs to switch between various displays of data, and access to a navigation database that allows a user to view information about various navigational aids. The database may also the access to the information about the navigational aids to be prioritized based on proximity to the current position of the aircraft.

Methods and apparatus for integrating, organizing, and accessing flight planning and other data on multifunction cockpit displays

Systems and methods are provided for an integrated graphical user interface which facilitates the display and editing of aircraft flight-plan data. A user (e.g., a pilot) located within the aircraft provides input to a processor through a cursor control device and receives visual feedback via a display produced by a monitor. The display includes various graphical elements associated with the lateral position, vertical position, flight-plan and/or other indicia of the aircraft's operational state as determined from avionics data and/or various data sources. Through use of the cursor control device, the user may modify the flight-plan and/or other such indicia graphically in accordance with feedback provided by the display. In one embodiment, the display includes a lateral view, a vertical profile view, and a hot-map view configured to simplify the display and editing of the aircraft's flight-plan data.

Methods and apparatus for graphical display and editing of flight plans

A water level maintaining apparatus includes a main body element having an elongate shape and adapted to be supported by first and second support portions on the surface adjacent the edge of a swimming pool. An end portion of the main body element is supported in cantilever disposition inwardly of the edge or coping of the swimming pool above the water in the pool and a water level sensing device is mounted to the end portion. A conduit extends along the main body element and has an outlet end connected to a valve assembly and an inlet end connected to a water supply source. The water level sensing device includes a floatation element operable to float on the surface of the water and having a floatation arm connected to the valve assembly to selectively open and close the outlet end of the conduit to permit or prevent the flow of water from the conduit. The water level maintaining apparatus automatically senses variations in the level of the water in the swimming pool from a predetermined level and automatically operates the valve assembly to permit the flow of water into the swimming pool until the predetermined level is restored.

A hand-held colloidal solution applicator particularly suited for applying relatively viscous solutions such as gels and pastes to the hair comprises a generally cylindrical rigid container for receiving the hair treating solution and has opposed externally threaded ends. A comb-like applicator nozzle is threadedly received on one end of the container for properly placing and distributing the solution and a non-dispensing hair-parting wand having a cap portion is threadedly received on the other end of the container opposite the applicator end and has a central opening through the cap portion end wall. The hair-parting wand extends outwardly from the cap portion end wall parallel to the longitudinal axis of the container and is laterally offset from the central opening. A dispensing plunger has a shaft portion extending slidably through the central opening with a piston at one end disposed within the container and the outwardly extending end of the shaft portion receives the thumb of the operator for sliding the piston within the container to force the solution through the applicator nozzle. The thumb operated piston feature reduces hand fatigue of the operator while giving more precise control over the work, and having the hair-parting wand and dispensing nozzle at opposite ends of the applicator eliminates the problems of accidental dripping of the contents onto the scalp or hair and the wand constantly interferring with the nozzle and vice-versa.

Vent apparatus usable with insulation for roof structures includes a covering vent for a vent pipe and a flexible gasket which is secured to the insulation, and the vent covering is dimensioned so that either it or the flexible gasket may move with the insulation without resulting in damage to the vent pipe.
