A universal steering and charger system is disclosed for a dual motor vehicle comprising a socket having socket terminals. A coupling defines a socket insert having socket insert terminals. A sensor is connected to the socket insert terminals with a hand control enabling an operator to manipulate the sensor. The socket insert is receivable within the socket for electrically connecting the socket insert to the socket. A motor drive control is connected to the socket for powering the first and second motors from a storage battery for steering the dual motor vehicle. A mast has mast terminals connected to a low voltage power source. The coupling is removable from the socket for enabling insertion of the mast into the socket for charging the storage battery. A plurality of sockets may be mounted at multiple location on the dual motor vehicle for steering the dual motor vehicle from multiple locations on the dual motor vehicle. The mast of the charging system may be utilized for charging a variety of electrical device.

Moveable steering and universal charger

A stabilizer is disclosed for a three-wheel vehicle having a frame extending between a front portion and a rear portion. The front portion of the frame supports a front steering wheel and with the rear portion of the frame supports plural driving wheels. The stabilizer comprises a right and a left stabilizing wheel mounted on a right and a left side of the frame. The right and left stabilizing wheels are positioned above the supporting surface when the three-wheel vehicle moves in a straight direction on a supporting surface. The right and left stabilizing wheels engage the supporting surface when the vehicle is turned in a right and a left direction respectively for stabilizing the three-wheel vehicle while maintaining steering ability. Preferably, the stabilizer includes a right and a left director for directing the right and left stabilizing wheels in a forward direction when the right and left stabilizing wheels are positioned above the supporting surface. The invention is also incorporated into an accessory stabilizer unit adapted for mounting onto existing three-wheel vehicles.

An electronic steering assembly is disclosed for a dual motor vehicle having a first and a second motor for driving a first and a second drive wheel. The electronic steering assembly comprises a handlebar rotatably mounted relative to a base. A sensor senses the rotational position of the handlebar relative to the base. A control is interposed between the sensor and the first and second motors for powering the first and second motors in accordance with the rotational position of the handlebars for steering the dual motor vehicle through the rotational movement of the handlebar.

A power wheel chair is disclosed having an improved motion control comprising a frame having a seat for transporting an occupant. A right and a left caster wheel are located in proximity to a front frame end. A right and a left drive wheel are located in proximity to a rear frame end. A motor drives the right and left drive wheels through a differential gearbox. A right and a left handle are connected to frame for enabling an attendant to steer the power wheel chair. An electronic control has a control lever located in proximity to one of the right and left handles for enabling the attendant to control the speed and braking of the power wheel chair.

A powered patient transport vehicle is disclosed having an improved motion control comprising a frame extending between a first end and a second end. A first and a second caster wheel are located in proximity to the first end of the frame. A first and a second drive wheel are located in proximity to the second end of the frame. A motor drives the first and second drive wheels through a differential gearbox. An electronic control has a control lever for controlling the speed, direction and braking of the motor. A seat is mounted to the frame for transporting an occupant. A steering bar is coupled to the powered patient transport vehicle for steering the powered patient transport vehicle.

A foldable personal mobility vehicle is disclosed comprising first and second units having first and second wheels being rotatable about first and second axles. A drive unit rotates the second wheel for moving the foldable personal mobility vehicle. A pivot disposed substantially parallel to the first and second axles pivotably connects the first unit to the second unit for folding the personal mobility vehicle. The foldable personal mobility vehicle may include a folding unit for automatically folding the foldable personal mobility vehicle.

A vehicle is disclosed having a reduced turning radius comprising a directional wheel assembly for turning the vehicle and a drive wheel assembly for driving the vehicle. The drive wheel assembly has a first and a second drive wheel independently driven by a first and a second motor through a control circuit. A counter-rotation circuit counter-rotates the first and second drive wheels upon a major turning position of the directional wheel assembly to enhance the turning of the vehicle. A reducing circuit reduces the speed of the motors upon a minor turning position of the directional wheel assembly. The vehicle may include a slide mechanism for providing a reduced wheelbase to further reduce the turning radius of the vehicle. One embodiment of the invention includes an improved steering device for controlling the directional wheel assembly.

Personal mobility vehicle

An improved footrest system and an improved electrical switching device are disclosed for a personal mobility vehicle having a rotatable chair. The improved footrest system comprises a first and a second footrest plate pivotably mounted to a first and a second end of the personal mobility vehicle. A first and a second spring resiliently biases the first and a second footrest plate into an inoperative position. Each of the first and second footrest plates is pivotable into an operative position by the feet of an operator for providing a footrest for the operator for a first and a second rotational station of the chair. The improved electrical switching device comprises a first switch for providing a front wheel drive operation and a second switch for providing a rear wheel drive operation. In one embodiment the first and second switches are actuated by the rotation of a chair into the operative position. In another embodiment, the first and second switches are actuated by rotation of the first and second footrest plates into an operative position.

A variable wheelbase personal mobility vehicle is disclosed comprising a front wheel assembly and a rear wheel assembly. A front wheel is pivotably mounted relative to the front wheel assembly for controlling the direction of movement of the personal mobility vehicle. Plural drive wheels are mounted relative to the rear wheel assembly for driving the personal mobility vehicle. A seat is connected to the rear wheel assembly for supporting an operator. A variable wheelbase mechanism varies the distance between the front wheel and the plural drive wheels.

A personal mobility vehicle comprises front and rear frame sections which can be disassembled and assembled. The frame sections are secured together by a pivotable detachable connection such that the rear frame section is lockingly received in the rear portion of the front frame section and the length of the assembled frame is substantially the same as the length of the front frame section itself. An auxiliary frame section is also provided which can be readily attached to the powered rear frame section to provide improved mobility in those situations in which space for turning is limited.
