A method and apparatus for controlling the ratio of ambient air to recirculated gases in an internal combustion engine, wherein an gas injector includes a intake air conduit defining a ambient air flow path, an actuator connected to the intake air conduit, a recirculated gas conduit operatively coupled and disposed within the intake air conduit defining a recirculated gas flow path and a valve apparatus operatively coupled to the intake air conduit and recirculated gas conduit. The valve apparatus includes; a shaft, a throttle valve coupled to the shaft and in fluid communication with the ambient air flow and a recirculated gas valve coupled to the shaft in fluid communication with the recirculated gas flow. The shaft rotates one of the throttle valve and the recirculated gas valve independent of the rotation of the other one of throttle valve and said recirculated gas valve.

Method and apparatus for controlling the ratio of ambient air to recirculated gases in an internal combustion engine

A fuel injector support assembly for mounting a fuel injector to the cylinder head of an engine. The fuel injector support assembly includes a fuel injector clamp attached to a bracket. The bracket is secured to the cylinder head by cylinder head mounting bolts, which are used also to fasten the cylinder head to the engine block. The fuel injector clamp is attached to the bracket and secures the fuel injector to the cylinder head.

Past exhaust emission control systems fail to utilize exhaust gas recirculation during all operating parameters of an engine. The present exhaust gas recirculation system reduces the emissions emitted from an engine during all operating parameters of the engine. The engine includes a cylinder, a rotatable crankshaft and a turbocharger defining a compressor section compressing a flow of intake air to a first preestablished pressure and being driven by a flow of exhaust gas having a first preestablished pressure. The exhaust gas recirculation system is comprised of a portion of the flow of exhaust gas being recirculated to the cylinder and forming a flow of recirculated exhaust gas. The flow of recirculated exhaust gas is cooled. A portion of the flow of intake air is compressed to a second preestablished pressure. The flow of recirculated exhaust gas is compressed to a second preestablished pressure being at least as great as the first preestablished pressure of the intake air. And, a quantity of the flow of recirculated exhaust gas is controlled by a valve having an open position in which intake air flows therethrough and a closed position in which the flow of intake air is blocked.

Exhaust gas recirculation system

A flexible coupling device for sealably connecting together first and second tubular bodies which are subjected to pulsing pressures and to thermal expansion and contraction. The first tubular body includes a first tubular portion having a cylindrical end and a flange and the second tubular body includes a second tubular portion having a planar mounting surface. The flexible coupling device includes a guide ring disposed in telescopic relation with the cylindrical end of the first tubular body, a flexible bellows having first and second attachment ends, a first retaining ring for releasably securing the first attachment end of the flexible bellows to the flange and a second retaining ring for releasably securing the second attachment end and the guide ring to the planar mounting surface of the second tubular portion.
