A Ziegler-Natta catalyst composition is disclosed. The catalyst composition includes an internal electron donor with improved polymerization kinetics, a long lifetime, improved stereoselectivity and/or improved hydrogen response.

Catalyst composition and system having extended lifetime

A phthalate-free procatalyst composition is disclosed for olefin polymerization that exhibits excellent polymerization activity and response to hydrogen, and can produce a polyolefin exhibiting high stereoregularity, high melt flow rate, and desirable molecular weight distribution. The method for producing the procatalyst composition includes reaction of a magnesium support precursor with a tetravalent titanium halide and a combination of different internal electron donors. The first internal electron donor may comprise one or more substituted phenylene aromatic diester and the second internal electron donor may comprise a polyether, preferably a 1,3-diether. In one embodiment, the support precursor comprises a spherical spray crystalized MgCl-EtOH adduct.

Procatalyst composition made with a combination of internal electron donors

Olefin polymerization catalysts or catalyst systems comprising a mixture, contact product, reaction product or complex comprising as elements or components: (A) at least one metallocene pre-catalyst compound or polymerization active metallocene compound; (B) at least one titanium containing metallocene compound; and when (A) is a metallocene pre-catalyst compound, (C) at least one activator; provided however: (I) the titanium-containing metallocene compound is inactive or substantially inactive for the polymerization of olefins prior to or concurrently with the use of the catalyst system for olefin polymerization. Also disclosed are processes for producing the catalyst system and polyolefins having desirable combinations of properties, including melt index and molecular weight distribution, which properties are particularly desirable for the manufacture of polyolefin film products, especially LLDPE film A preferred catalyst comprises a zirconium or hafnium metal containing metallocene, an inactivated titanocene and a SiO2 support carrier.
