A ground shunt structure for an electrical connector which receives a shielded cable includes a electrically conductive spring encircling an exposed end portion of the cable shielding to make physical and electrical contact therewith. An elongated strip of electrically conductive material extends between the shield and a ground contact of the connector, the end adjacent the shield being held by the spring. The spring can be hooked to the strip or can encircle the strip to embrace it.

Connector shunt structure

Upper and lower molded polymeric housing portions are coupled together to form a closed housing. Each housing portion has an end wall, the end wall of one having openings for a power receptacle and the end wall of the other having either knock-outs to form openings for a power receptacle or knock-outs to form openings for communication connectors. A hook and groove arrangement permits the housing portions to be coupled together and moved between open and closed positions. The housing is especially useful with flat cable in an under-carpet wiring system.

Housing for electrical connectors

A protective cover for an electrical connector capable of torsional flexibility and adapted for use in combination with an electrical connector having a rotatable sleeve for actuating a locking pin to lock the connector's blades. The cover is a unitary elastomeric body comprising a clamping assembly for securing to the connector cable, a gripping sleeve for engaging the rotatable sleeve on the connector, and a torsionally flexible portion joining the clamping assembly and gripping sleeve. The torsionally flexible portion includes an annular series of radial pleats and a thin-walled tubular portion extending from the pleats.

The male portion of a connector assembly of the locking type has blades insertable into slots in the mating female portion, the male portion then being rotatable to lock the blades against direct axial extraction. A spring urged locking pin adjacent the trailing edge of at least one blade normally protrudes from the connector face, is pushed in by the female face, and then protrudes after locking rotation, entering the slot portion vacated by the trailing edge. A rotatable sleeve on the male connector body has a cam surface which, upon rotation of the sleeve in the unlocking direction, first retracts the locking pin, then engages the body of the connector to rotate the blades out of their locked position.
