The present teachings provide a method and composition related to two component epoxy phosphate ester based foam materials. The present teachings provide a method comprising: providing a two component system, the two component system including an A side and a B side, the A side including epoxy and the B side including phosphate ester and phosphoric acid; mixing the A side and the B side to form a resulting reaction product; wherein the resulting reaction product of the A side and the B side cures at a temperature of less than 50° C. The present teachings provide a composition comprising: a) a first component including epoxy; b) a second component including phosphate ester and phosphoric acid; and wherein a resulting reaction product of the first component and second component cures at a temperature of less than 50° C.

Two-component phosphate ester cavity filling semi rigid foam

A two-part system comprising a first component including one or more epoxy resins or epoxy-functionalized resins and a second component including one or more phosphate esters, wherein the first component and second component are liquid at room temp and upon mixing the first component with the second component at room temperature, a composition is formed that is solid.

Two-part phosphate ester epoxy composition

The teachings herein are directed at solid polymeric adhesive compositions for adhering metal components, methods for compounding the polymeric adhesive compositions, articles including a component having the polymeric adhesive composition, methods for producing articles including curing a solid adhesive, and articles including the cured adhesive. A material comprising at least about 10% by weight polyvinyl butyral, a thermoplastic epoxy, wherein the ratio of polyvinyl butyral to thermoplastic epoxy is about 1 to 10 to about 1 to 4, and at least 2% but less than 15% by weight adducted carboxyl-terminated polymer, wherein the material has a strain to failure of greater than 2% and a modulus of at least 700 MPa.

Structural bonding adhesive

The present teachings contemplate a method comprising coating an polymeric material with a composition including a dicarbonyl compound and having a viscosity of from about 50 cps to about 500 cps, wherein the coating initiates either: (i) spontaneous polymerization (e.g., in less than about one minute) at room temperature of the composition without the addition of an initiator; or (ii) polymerization at room temperature at a selected later time with or without the addition of an initiator; and wherein the composition adheres or facilitates adhesion of the polymeric material to a substrate.

Malonates and derivatives for in-situ films

A multi-layer composition to be located onto a substrate. The composition comprises a bi-layer construction, including a first layer and a second layer, the first layer having a high elastic modulus and tensile strength in comparison to the second layer. The second layer includes a blowing agent such that, when cured, the first layer is spaced away from the substrate. The compositions of the first layer and second layer are similar, thus enabling the reconstitution of scrap into usable material for forming another multi-layer reinforcement.

Bilayer reinforcement structures

The present teachings contemplate a method for sealing comprising providing a substrate that includes a plurality of pores, locating a polymerizable composition onto a surface of the substrate, the polymerizable composition including a monofunctional, difunctional or multifunctional methylene malonate or a cyanoacrylate, and initiating polymerization of the composition, wherein polymerization is initiated by the use of an initiator or by the presence of a latent activating agent.

Polymalonate and cyanoacrylate based surface concrete sealers

The present teachings contemplate a method that includes a step of providing a first amount of esterified reaction product of an acid and an epoxy-based material. The esterified reaction product may be further reacted an epoxy resin to form a polymeric epoxy. The resulting material may have a generally linear backbone, foaming and curing capability and flame retardant properties.

A nonwoven composite for high temperature applications requiring Sow flammability, smoke, and/or toxicity, including a fibrous structure having one or more nonwoven material layers including a scrim layer. The scrim is formed from inorganic fibers, at least some of which are adapted to withstand temperatures of up to about 1150° C. The scrim is formed from a wet-laying process. Flexible films of thermosetting adhesive materials which are non-tacky to the touch are storage stable at room temperature and can be cured at elevated temperature with a short cure time and can be cured to produce a tough flexible adhesive layer including bonding to oily surfaces, the materials are particularly useful in bonding together dissimilar substrates.

Thermosetting adhesive films

An adhesive formulation having an adduct of an epoxy resin and an elastomer, a phenoxy epoxy hybrid resin supplied as a solution formed by dissolving a phenoxy resin in a liquid epoxy resin to form a pre-formed dissolution product, a core/shell polymer, and one or more additional epoxy resins. The adhesive formulation may include a curing agent, blowing agent, filler, accelerator, or a combination.

An acoustic composite comprising a plurality of discrete air flow resistive layers layered on top of each other including a top layer and one or more lofted fibrous layers produced by a lapping process, the top layer having a specific air flow resistance that is greater than a specific air flow resistance of the one or more lofted fibrous layer.

Multi-impedance composite

The present teachings contemplate a method comprising providing a first and second substrate, locating an initiator onto a surface of the first or second substrate, the initiator including a substance for initiating polymerization of a polymerizable adhesive, locating the polymerizable adhesive onto a surface of the first and second substrate, the adhesive including a monofunctional, difunctional, or multifunctional methylene malonate, or cyanoacrylate, and contacting first and second substrate.
