A control circuit that provides a driving signal to a transducer coupled to a mechanical cutting element. The transducer is capable of operating in a resonant mode. The driving signal contains a plurality of pulses provided in a time interval that does not cause the transducer to operate in the resonant mode.

An irrigation tube that has a relatively high fluidic resistance. The high resistance can be created by providing a relatively long tube. The aspiration tube and an irrigation tube may be coupled to an anterior chamber of a cornea during a phaco procedure. The high resistance of the tube will minimize the instantaneous change of flowrate out of the cornea in the event an occlusion is cleared from the aspiration tube. Minimizing the change in flowrate will tend to insure a higher flowrate from the irrigation line and a positive pressure within the cornea. The aspiration tube may have a plurality of pre-formed coils to minimize the effective length of the tube.

Anterior chamber stabilizing device for use in eye surgery

An aspiration system that may include a control valve to allow a flow of fluid into an aspiration line and vary a vacuum pressure within the line. The system may include a pressure transducer that is coupled to the aspiration line by a sensor line and a check valve. The check valve prevents a back flow of fluid from the aspiration line to the pressure line. The system may further have a control circuit that is coupled to the pressure transducer and the control valve. The control circuit may control the control valve and regulate the vacuum pressure within the aspiration line. The control circuit may receive an input signal that also controls a medical handpiece. The input signal can be generated by a foot pedal that also controls the handpiece. The system may thus have one foot pedal that can control the handpiece and the vacuum pressure of the aspiration line.

Method and apparatus for controlling vacuum as a function of ultrasonic power in an ophthalmic phaco aspirator

A poultry processing machine is provided which automatically vents and opens the poultry, eviscerates the poultry, displays the poultry for inspection, and either provides a normal or radical clean out procedure to the poultry. When the poultry is being physically processed, it is maintained in a generally stationary position with respect to the surface supporting the poultry processor to provide for uniform positioning of the poultry on the conveyor. Further, the poultry is positioned in a generally horizontal position during the venting and opening, eviscerating and cleaning procedures, to facilitate removing the unwanted materials from the poultry without increasing the risk of contamination. The eviscerating station uses an eviscerating tool which includes an opening sized to receive the viscera package therethrough during the eviscerating process to prevent damage to the viscera package. The clean out station automatically recognizes whether a particular poultry is to receive the normal or radical clean out procedure, thereby reducing processing time.

A sleeve for a medical handpiece. The sleeve has a flexible outer sleeve and a rigid inner sleeve that are both coupled to a case of the handpiece. Coupling the rigid inner sleeve to the case increases the effective stiffness of the inner sleeve. Increasing the effective stiffness of the rigid inner sleeve reduces the likelihood of contact between the inner sleeve and a tip of the handpiece even when non-symmetric forces are applied to the sleeve.

A guide device for securing carpet to a floor incorporates an elongated main body having an aligning edge portion for positionally aligning with a Z-bar secured to a floor to be carpeted, and an elongated vertical edge element operatively secured to a top surface of the main body and extending parallel to a longitudinal axis of the main body. The vertical edge element is positioned a predetermined distance from the aligning edge portion along an entire length of the main body. In operation, the aligning edge portion of the guide device is positionally aligned with a bend portion of a Z-bar secured to a floor to be carpeted. A carpet to be secured with the Z-bar is laid on top of the Z-bar and the guide device. The carpet is then cut along the vertical edge element of the guide device, wherein a remaining portion of the carpet extends approximately the predetermined distance beyond the bend portion of the Z-bar. Finally, the remaining portion of the carpet is secured underneath the Z-bar.

Method and apparatus for a rug cutting guide

An adapter assembly for a pressure sensor. The adapter includes a sensor housing that has a first port and a second port that are both in fluid communication with an inner chamber of the housing. The assembly further includes a membrane housing that is pressed into the first port of the sensor housing and connected to a fluid line. Extending from the membrane housing is a membrane which separates the sensor housing inner chamber into a first subchamber and a second subchamber. The first subchamber is in fluid communication with the fluid line. The second subchamber is in fluid communication with a pressure transducer which is pressed into the second port of the sensor housing. Any variation of pressure within the fluid line will cause a change in the volume of the first subchamber. The change in the first subchamber volume will deflect the membrane and vary the volume of the second subchamber. In accordance with the ideal gas equation, the change of the second subchamber volume will vary the pressure of the second subchamber. The pressure transducer senses the change in the second subchamber pressure. The change in the second subchamber pressure corresponds to the variation in the line pressure. The membrane can be removed so that the pressure transducer can be reused even in contaminated environments.

A method of making a food product from a wing of a bird comprising a middle section having a tip section attached to one end and a drumette section attached to the other end comprises cutting the wing to separate the middle section from the drumette section. The middle section is then cut along a line extending generally parallel to the middle section axis and spaced from the joint shared by the middle section and the drumette by a predetermined distance to remove the joint from the middle section. The tip section is then bent with respect to the middle section to expose at least a portion of both of the middle section bones proximate to the joint of the middle section and the tip section. A score line may be used to facilitate exposure of the two bones. The exposed portions of both of the middle section bones are then pulled to remove the two bones from the middle section to thereby provide a food product comprising a boneless middle section attached to the tip section, the tip section functioning as a convenient handle.
