The present invention provides a glass sheet having soda-lime-silica glass composition with a high visible light transmittance (L) of at least 89% with a dominant wavelength (DW) from about 490 to 505 nanometers and purity (Pe) of no more than 1% for control thickness of 5.66 mm and methods of making the same. The glass composition comprising a low iron raw material, a total iron oxide (FeO) of 0.02 to 0.06 wt. %, ferrous (FeO) from 0.006 to 0.02 wt. %, redox (FeO/FeO) from about 0.30 to 0.55, CrOfrom about 0.3 to 10 ppm, TiOfrom about 50 to 500 ppm, SnOfrom about 10 to 500 ppm, and a critical amount from about 0.10 to 0.25 wt. % of SO. The low content of iron oxide is achieved by the partial substitution of regular raw materials by low iron raw materials, with a complete substitution of regular dolomite by a low iron dolomite with a maximum content of 0.020 wt. % FeO.

Low emissivity coating for windows in cold climates

The present invention relates to reflective articles, such as solar mirrors, that include a sacrificial cathodic layer. The reflective article, more particularly includes a substrate, such as glass, having a multi-layered coating thereon that includes a lead-free sacrificial cathodic layer. The sacrificial cathodic layer includes at least one transition metal, such as a particulate transition metal, which can be in the form of flakes (e.g., zinc flakes). The sacrificial cathodic layer can include an inorganic matrix formed from one or more organo-titanates. Alternatively, the sacrificial cathodic layer can include an organic polymer matrix (e.g., a crosslinked organic polymer matrix formed from an organic polymer and an aminoplast crosslinking agent). The reflective article also includes an outer organic polymer coating, that can be electrodeposited over the sacrificial cathodic layer.

An insulating unit includes a first spacer frame between first and second sheets, e.g. glass sheets, and a second spacer frame between the second sheet and a third sheet. A first surface of the first spacer frame is adhered to inner surface of the first sheet, and an opposite second surface of the first spacer frame is adhered to a first surface of the second sheet, by a moisture impervious adhesive layer. A first outer surface of the second spacer frame is adhered to a second surface of the second sheet, and an opposite second outer surface of the second spacer frame is adhered to an inner surface of the third sheet, by the adhesive layer. The first spacer frame and the second spacer frame have an offset of greater than zero.

The thermochromic layer includes at least two thermochromic films and at least one non-thermochromic colored film positioned between the thermochromic films. The cation and the anion containing liquids are spaced from, and preferably out of contact with one another on the surface of the reflective coating as an electric current is moved through the anion containing liquid, the conductive surface between the liquids and the cation containing liquid to coat the conductive surface with the electrically conductive coating.

A grid simulating muntins is retained or secured by clips within a spacer frame between glass sheets. The clips include a spacer-engaging member having a platform, and upright walls bendable toward one another, and a grid-engaging member. The grid-engaging member is mounted on the platform, extends upward between and spaced from the upright walls, and is received into one of the ends of the elongated members of the grid. The platform and portions of the upright walls of the spacer-engaging member are positioned within the spacer frame such that the ends of the elongated members of the grid are below the sight line of the unit. The spacer-engaging member and the grid-engaging member can be a monolithic piece, or the grid-engaging member can be detachably secured to the platform of the spacer-engaging member.

The body is bendable to decrease spacing of the cut out to form a corner of the spacer frame.

The present invention provides a multi-sheet unit with a spacer frame having at least three sides, at least three corners, a first sheet supporting surface and an opposite second sheet supporting surface. The spacer frame includes a spacer stock member having a first end, an opposite second end, the at least three sides and at least two corners of the at least three corners; a corner key comprising a bendable elongated body having a first end in the first end of the spacer stock member, an opposite second end in the second end of the spacer stock member to provide one of the corners of the at least three corners of the spacer frame, and a cut out between the ends of the corner key, the ends of the corner key bendable relative to one another to decrease the spacing of the cut out; a first sheet secured to the first sheet supporting surface by a first moisture and/or gas impervious layer, and a second sheet secured to the second sheet supporting surface by a second moisture and/or gas impervious layer.

The present invention provides spacer stock for making a spacer frame for a multi-sheet unit. The spacer stock includes a first supporting surface; a second supporting surface opposite to, and facing away from, the first supporting surface; a base surface between and connecting the first and second supporting surfaces, and wherein the first and second supporting surfaces and base surface are made of plastic and rate of moisture and/or gas movement through portions of the first and second supporting surfaces is greater than the rate of moisture and/or gas movement, respectively through the base surface.

The present invention provides a spacer frame for making a multi-sheet unit. The frame includes a spacer stock member having a first end and a second end, and a corner key comprising a bendable elongated body having a first end in the first end of the spacer stock member, an opposite second end in the second end of the spacer stock member, and a cut out between the ends, the ends of the corner key bendable relative to one another to decrease the spacing of the cut out.
