The present invention is an intelligent metering system for currency-activated devices having an electromechanical meter. The intelligent metering system includes an inductive pickup winding associated with the electromechanical meter. An amplifier is coupled to the inductive pickup winding to boost a signal detected from the inductive pickup winding when electromechanical meter is actuated. A pulse detector, coupled to the amplifier, detects pulses, false triggerings and filters out EMF spikes. A microprocessor is coupled to the pulse detector for counting the pulses detected by the pulse detector and for storing meter data related to the counted pulses in a memory device. An interface is coupled to the microprocessor for transmitting the meter data from the memory device.

Intelligent metering system

A digital image capture system for a photo identification card wherein a housing contains a video camera and a tray that selectively moves through a formed slot in the housing between a first fully inserted position within the housing and a second fully open position outside of the housing. The tray has a formed recess that receives an insert plate. The insert plate has a formed opening for holding a photo identification card of a person. Different insert plates could be utilized under the teachings of the present invention having different-sized formed openings for different-sized photo identification cards. The photo identification card is placed into the formed opening and then the tray is slid into the fully inserted position in the housing. A magnet in the housing firmly holds the tray in the fully inserted position and this fully inserted position is sensed by a micro-switch that becomes activated to turn on a pair of opposing lamps to fully illuminate the photo identification card in the tray. The camera captures a video image of the fully illuminated photo identification card and delivers it to a remote computer for storage in a captured image database. In the event the identification card does not carry a photo, a second video camera positioned remote from the housing is used to capture a likeness image of the owner of the card which is also stored in the computer.

Digital image capture system for photo identification cards

An automated gaming table tracking system for a gaming table, such as blackjack. A sensor located in the dealer's card playing area senses the start and end of each game. A unique player identity card is given to each player that contains information on the player. When a player arrives at a player position on the table, the player inserts his player identity card into a player station control at the player position. A central distribution control is connected to each player station control for determining the start and the end of each game and beginning and termination of play by each player at each position. A host computer of the present invention is then interconnected to the central distribution control for storing the player identity information and the player position for each player station control, the start and end of each of the games, and the beginning and termination of play at each player position from the central distribution control. The host computer prints a player tracking card. The floor supervisor observes the player during the game and fills out the in-session gaming information. Once the player leaves the table, the player tracking card with the in-session gaming information filled out is then placed in an automatic reader so that the read in-session gaming information is stored in a data base corresponding to the identity of the player.

Automated gaming table tracking system and method therefor

A system and method for rapidly recording employee time and attendance information. A user identification document is provided which contains identification information in the form of a bar code. The user places the document in a three-dimensional scanning region of a reader which scans the bar-coded information. The system is also designed to record a video image of the user as the bar code is scanned. The system may additionally require the user to input additional information in the form of a password or access code. The reader temporarily stores the information and sends confirmation to the user that the information has been successfully recorded. A host computer, connected to the reader and a plurality of other readers, periodically polls the reader. Upon polling by the host computer the reader transmits all information stored in its memory to the host computer where the information is stored in a database for subsequent analysis. The host computer may additionally be connected, along with a plurality of other host computers, to a central computer capable of retrieving and analyzing information from all host computers.
