A golf mat that has a natural feel and mitigates injury during mat striking includes: a base, the base including a main structure with an upper surface and an open topped cavity in the upper surface; and an insert sized to be accommodated in the cavity, the insert including a layer of solid polymeric material selected to have shock absorption properties greater than the main structure; and artificial turf installed on the base and overlying at least a portion of the main structure and the insert.

An annular seal for a conduit pig includes an annular diaphragm and a separate lead support structure. The annular diaphragm is devoid of internal supports and therefore quite flexible. However, the lead support structure supports the annular diaphragm such that a piston effect can be generated through the annular seal. A brush portion for a conduit pig may include forwardly raked bristles.

The golf practice mat assembly comprising; a stance section with a first end, a second end, positioned opposite the first end, a front lengthwise side extending between the first end and the second end and a second lengthwise side extending between the first end and the second end; a strike section including a first side and an opposite side; a connection between the stance section and the strike section, the connection configured to securely and detachably connect the strike section to the stance section and the connection further configured to be angularly selectable and to connect the strike section at one of a plurality of possible angular orientations relative to the stance section.

The brush has a metal bristle holder and a plurality of bristles, the ends of which are held in the bristle holder by glue, swaging or a combination of glue and swaging. The glue may be an anaerobic glue. The brush and method of making avoid the use of heat to secure the bristles to the bristle holder, avoid the use of solder or weld metal, and are less labor intensive than soldering or welding.
