Provided is an ammunition container lid for use with an ammunition canister. The container lid includes a four-sided frame, a cover, a hinge assembly, a feed tray, a latch, and a Last Round Switch. The hinge assembly includes a repeating pattern of ammunition can hinge sections, feed tray hinge sections, and cover hinge sections with a rod holding the sections together. The lid has an integrated aerodynamic forward face that matches the curvature of the ammunition can. The feed tray assembly is incorporated into the container lid to prevent a reduction in ammunition can capacity. The cover and feed tray rotate on the same axis, thereby resulting in simplified, ergonomic operation, which eliminates the problems inherent in current designs that can open directly into the airstream during flight. The inventive lid does not require special tools for installation/removal and does not reduce ammunition can capacity.

Weapon system ammunition canister lid

A weapon mounting system for a vehicle, such as a helicopter. The weapon mounting system illustratively includes a weapon cradle supporting a machine gun for pivoting movement about a generally horizontal elevational axis. A carriage supports the weapon cradle and is supported by a pintle for rotation about a generally vertical azimuth axis. An ejection collection device is supported by the carriage and collects spent shell casings and links ejected from the machine gun for discharge through the pintle. A trigger assembly illustratively provides for manual operation by a gunner and for remote electrical operation by a pilot.

Helicopter weapon mounting system

An armament system for aircraft includes an ammunition system and a mount system for a machine gun. The ammunition system includes an ammunition canister and feed system, the canister having a pair of brackets releasably coupled to a pair of receivers supported by a vertical mounting surface.

Ammunition canister and feed system

A wheel support assembly is mounted to a pivotable system spanning an opening, with the pivotable system mounted to one side of the opening at a pivotable connection and to another side of the opening at a removable connection. The support assembly is disposed proximate the removable connection and spaced apart from the pivotable connection, and has a wheel positioned and oriented to support the pivotable system weight that would otherwise be cantilevered as the pivotable system rotates about the pivotable support. The wheel support assembly may include a vertically adjustable wheel that may be adjusted to remain just out of contact with the support surface when the pivotable assembly is connected to both the pivotable and the removable connections.
