Example systems and methods for integrating an air-cooled oil cooler into an inlet frame of an engine are provided. An example gas turbine engine comprises an inlet frame including an inlet plenum at a first end of an inlet frame flow path, the inlet frame defining an airflow entrance to a compressor; the compressor to provide an airflow through the inlet frame; a pump to circulate a fluid; a plurality of struts supporting the inlet frame flow path; and a fluid core connected to the pump and built at least partially into the inlet frame of the gas turbine engine, the fluid core to route the fluid through the inlet plenum.

Integral engine inlet frame air-cooled oil cooling apparatus

A gas turbine engine that defines a radial direction and axial direction. The gas turbine engine includes a compressor section that includes a high pressure compressor. The high pressure compressor includes an aft-most compressor stage. The aft-most compressor stage includes a rotor, a low pressure shaft, a high pressure shaft drivingly coupled to the high pressure compressor. The high pressure shaft includes a central spool member and a forward spool member. The forward spool member extending between the central spool member and the aft-most compressor stage. The aft-most compressor stage further includes an air guide coupled to the aft-most compressor stage and the high pressure shaft. The air guide and a radially inward side of the forward spool member together defines an air flow passage for providing a cooling air flow.

A stator rim structure for a gas turbine engine comprises a stator having an end wall and a discourager defining a channel therebetween. The end wall is adjacent to a hot gas flow and the discourager is adjacent to a purge flow. A rotor has an angel wing extending into the channel. At least one supply passage is disposed within the stator and extends through the discourager and at least one aperture fluidly couples the supply passage with the channel. A flow of cooling air is fed from the supply passage into the aperture and into the channel to form a fluidic dam discouraging ingestion of the hot gas flow.

The apparatus includes: an annular flowpath member of low-ductility material, the flowpath member having a flowpath surface and an opposed back surface, and having a cross-sectional shape comprising a generally cylindrical forward section and an aft section that extends aft and radially outward at a non-perpendicular, non-parallel angle to the centerline axis; an annular stationary structure surrounding the flowpath member; and an annular centering spring disposed between the stationary structure and the flowpath member, the centering spring urging the flowpath member towards a centered position within the stationary structure.

Low-ductility turbine shroud flowpath and mounting arrangement therefor

An electrosurgical apparatus for coagulating tissue includes an elongated housing and an electrode located adjacent the distal end of the housing. The electrode can be connected to a source of electrosurgical energy. At least one actuator is included which electrosurgically energizes the electrode. The apparatus also includes a relatively small gas cylinder which contains a pressurized gas consisting of inert gas and which is selectively seated in the housing. Upon actuation of the actuator, gas is dispersed under pressure from the gas cylinder to the electrode and is ionized prior to the distribution of the gas into the operating field.

Self contained, gas-enhanced surgical instrument

A gas-enhanced electrosurgical instrument includes a hand-held applicator and a portable actuator assembly. The hand-held applicator has a gas delivery member adapted to deliver pressurized ionizable gas to the proximity of an electrode located adjacent a distal end of the applicator. The portable actuator assembly is capable of holding a source of pressurized ionizable gas, such as a cylinder or cartridge, and includes at least one controller to control the delivery of the gas from the source to the hand-held applicator and to control the delivery of electrosurgical energy to the hand-held applicator.

Gas-enhanced surgical instrument

An electrosurgical instrument for providing pressurized ionized gas to a surgical site includes a hand-held applicator having proximal and distal ends, a gas delivery member adapted to deliver pressurized ionizable gas to the proximity of an electrode located adjacent the distal end of the hand-held applicator. A portable actuator assembly is included that is capable of receiving a source of pressurized ionizable gas therein. The actuator controls the delivery of the gas and energy to the hand-held applicator. A pressure safety connects to the portable actuator and to the hand-held applicator. A pressure safety system having two or more cascaded pressure change members connects between the input port and the output port, the pressure change members are configured to regulate pressurized gas into the environment until the portable actuator assembly exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Gas-enhanced surgical instrument with pressure safety feature

A ionizable gas system is provided and includes a surgical accessory and a corona start patient connector. The surgical accessory is adapted to receive electrosurgical energy from an electrosurgical energy source and is adapted to receive ionizable gas (e.g., argon gas) from a portable ionizable gas source. The corona start patient connector is operatively connected to the electrosurgical energy source and the surgical accessory. The corona start patient connector includes an electrical interface that is configured to verify if the ionizable gas system is functioning properly prior to use on a patient.

Portable argon system

A pressure safety system is provided for use with electrosurgical instruments providing pressurized ionized gas to a surgical site. The pressure safety system includes a series of three cascaded pressure change members to control the pressure of gas delivered to a patient. Pressure safety apparatus for use with electrosurgical instruments providing pressurized ionized gas to a surgical site are also provided. Electrosurgical instruments utilizing the pressure safety system and apparatus are also provided. The instruments include a hand-held applicator, a portable actuator assembly and the pressure safety system to control the pressure of gas delivered to a patient.

A torque apparatus for the installation and removal of threaded connecting device that employs a plurality of leaf spring elements engaging a plurality of asymmetrical drive teeth sides to establish preset torque values in a hermetically sealed configuration or a variable range of preset torque values in a second configuration. The preset torque values can be readily changed in the second configuration by employing different quantities of leaf springs, differing leaf spring designs, or varying the geometry of the rotor drive teeth. The leaf spring to rotor drive teeth interface provides a slip mechanism to prevent over-torquing when torque values for the installation of a threaded connecting type device is exceeded. While both torque wrench configurations are sterilizable, the torque wrench that is capable of full disassembly for sterilization and use thereafter in a sterilized environment, is reconfigurable for different torque applications without calibration. The wrench can be primarily constructed as disposable device.
