The energy density of capacitors can be increased by using a material with differential negative capacitance (NC), which was recently observed in FE materials. Described is a more general pathway towards improved electrostatic energy storage densities by engineering the capacitance non-linearity of electrostatic devices. The disadvantages of regular polarizable materials are overcome by using the NC effect, which ideally has no hysteresis losses, leading to a theoretical efficiency of 100%. By storing the energy mostly in an amorphous DE layer, the break-down field strength is much higher compared to pure FE or AFE storage capacitors. In addition, leakage current losses can be reduced by improving the morphology of the insulating materials used.

Electrical storage device with negative capacitance

A flat lighting device includes a layer arrangement, anode and cathode contact regions. The layer arrangement includes an anode layer, a cathode layer, and an organic light-emitting layer arranged between the anode and cathode layers, the layer arrangement having a flat shape which is laterally bounded by an edge region. The anode contact regions contact the anode layer and are implemented along the edge region. The cathode contact regions contact the cathode layer and are implemented along the edge region. The flat shape has a rotational invariance toward rotation by discrete angles. The anode and cathode contact regions may be contacted from one side of the flat shape of the layer arrangement and are arranged to be laterally distributed over the edge region such that the lateral distribution of the anode and cathode contact regions is maintained upon rotation of the layer arrangement by the discrete angles.

Flat lighting devices and method of contacting flat lighting devices

Two-layered or three-layered polymer tubing for use as a pressurized fluid conduit in automobiles can be either walled or have walls continuously or partially corrugated. The tubing has an outer layer of a hard polymer molding material and an inner layer of a soft rubber-like polymer or a polymer mixture. The inner layer can be provided on the innerside with a layer of a thermoplastic adhesion-modified elastomer composition. The a materials are selected for the layers to provide a so-called 'hard-soft-combination'. The rubber-like polymer composition has a hardness in the range of 30 Shore A to 60 Shore D, especially of about 30 Shore A to 90 Shore A, the compositions being selected so that they are processable by coextrusion or the so-called conex method and adhere directly to each other non-positively or positively fitted, i. e. without additional bonding agent, without delaminating.

Multilayer polymer hose line or tubing having reduced length variations

A cable comprising a stress-bearing matrix extending substantially through the length of the cable; and a plurality of conducting elements extending substantially through the length of the cable, the plurality off the conducting elements being located within and spaced from one another by the stress-bearing matrix, wherein at least one of the plurality of conducting elements is in intimate contact with a low friction liner disposed about at least one of the plurality of conducting elements, and the at least one of the, conducting elements is longitudinally moveable relative to the stress-bearing matrix.

Combination cable and device

Thermoplastic multilayer composite, particularly in the form of a multilayer hose, a multilayer pipe or a multilayer container, containing at least one intermediate layer made of a molding compound on the basis of ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymers between layers made of molding compounds on the basis of polyamide, the intermediate layer being bonded via at least one adhesion-promoting layer made of a molding compound on the basis of polyamide selected from the group of copolyamide 6/12, block copolyamide 6/12, polyamide 612, polyamide 610, a mixture of polyamide 6 and polyamide 12 with compatibilizer, a mixture of polyamide 6 and polyamide 11 with compatibilizer, with at least one neighboring layer made of a molding compound on the basis of polyamide 12, polyamide 11, polyamide 1010, polyamide 1012, or polyamide 1212.

Thermoplastic multilayer composites

The invention relates to a device ( ) suitable for controlling a surface ( ) of an object ( ), notably with respect to raised areas on said surface ( ). The device ( ) comprises a light source ( ) for generating a light beam ( ) directed towards the surface as well as a light sensor ( ) for detecting light scattered by a raised area on the surface ( ). The light beam ( ) generated by the light source ( ) is configured so as to scan the surface ( ) in such a way that the raised area on the surface scatters the light beam ( ). If there is no raised area the light beam ( ) undergoes ideally no, or else only slight, changes. The light sensor ( ) is arranged in such a way that at least part of the scattered light can be detected. In this manner it is possible to detect, for example, impurities on uneven or structured surfaces.
