This document describes a heating rod for a glow plug with a ceramic glow element having a glow tip at its front end and a connector portion at its rear end, a contact element making electrical contact with the connector portion of the glow element, and a sheath, from which the front end of the glow element protrudes. According to this disclosure, the contact element is pressed against the glow element under pre-tension. Furthermore, this document describes a method for producing such a heating rod and a glow plug with such a heating rod.

Heating rod for a glow plug and method for producing a heating rod and glow plug

Described is a glow plug having a casing and a ceramic glow pin protruding out of the casing. The glow pin has a tapered end section inside the casing. A metal protective tube protrudes out of the casing and surrounds the glow pin. The protective tube has a widened end section inside the casing. A center electrode is arranged in the casing and electrically connected to the glow pin. The glow plug includes an annular or sleeve-shaped contact element through which the glow pin projects and to which the tapered end section of the glow pin is soldered. The contact element is at least partly surrounded by the widened end section of the protective tube.

Glow plug

Described is a pressure measuring glow plug with a housing, a glow pin, which projects out of the housing and can be displaced in its longitudinal direction relative to the housing against a restoring force. A sensor acquires the position of the glow pin or a pressure acting on the glow pin, and a center pole is arranged in the housing and electrically connected to the glow pin via a contact spring. This disclosure provides that the contact spring is a U-shaped, bent metal strip, which in a middle section has a reduced width, and broadens from the middle section toward its two ends.

A pressure-measuring glow plug for a diesel engine with a plug body () for insertion into a cylinder of the diesel engine, a heating rod () which is arranged in the plug body (), and a pressure sensor, which is arranged under an initial tension between the heating rod () and the plug body (), in such a way that the pressure sensor () is acted upon by the pressure prevailing in the combustion chamber of the cylinder. Pressure-measuring glow plug

A glow plug connector for a glow plug with built-in sensor, especially built-in pressure sensor, comprising a casing made of an electrically insulating material, which can be placed onto the glow plug. Provided centrally in the casing is a high-current connection which is connected to the high-current contact of the heating devices of the glow plug when the connector is placed thereon. Sensor contacts are provided on the casing insulated with respect to the high-current connection for contacting the sensor connections of the built-in sensor when the connector is placed thereon. For sealing an O-ring is provided on the outside of the casing whereas a locking mechanism serves to deliver the withdrawal force which must be overcome so that a coupling placed thereon can be removed from the glow plug connector. The connector is part of a system with a glow plug connector and glow plug.

A sheathed-element glow plug including a glow plug body and a heating rod inside the glow plug body, and a heating element. Optionally, the glow plug includes a control element, embedded in insulating material, associated with said heating element which is positioned within the heating rod. The heating element, at the end facing the electrical connection, has an internal pole, with internal pole lead-in, for connection to a power source; while, the end of said heating element facing the combustion chamber is connected to the tip of the heating rod. The glow plug also includes a contact tube which is pushed onto the end region of the heating rod facing the electrical connection in order to extend the heating rod in the direction of the electrical connection to define a hollow space between the contact tube and the internal pole, internal pole lead-in, which is filled with insulating material.

A glow plug comprises a heating rod with an inner heater coil and optionally at least one control coil, the heating rod being insulated from the glow plug body and is provided with a plug-type or screw terminal for the power supply voltage. Furthermore, the terminal (4) has an electronic component (6), preferably a chip, with a terminal (7) connected to the power supply voltage, a terminal (8) connected to the glow tube (1.3) and a terminal (9) connected to the body (3). The electronic component (6) is designed as a control element for switching the functioning of the glow plug between a heating function and a sensing function for measuring the ion flow in the combustion space area in proximity to the heating rod (1).
