A receive device of a conveyor unit, an apparatus including the receive device and a method for transporting rod-like articles for tobacco-processing. The receive device includes a deceleration device to decelerate the rod-like articles and an acceleration device to accelerate the rod-like articles. The acceleration device is arranged downstream from the deceleration device. A conveyor speed limit device is located between the deceleration device and the acceleration device. Receive device and conveyor method

Device and process for conveying filter elements to a filter element magazine. The device includes a rotatable drum comprising at least one seat for receiving a filter element and a detection device that controls a rotation of the drum and detects the filter elements. The process includes conveying at least one filter element in a lengthwise axial direction to a drum that includes seats, wherein at least one of the seats is adapted to receive the at least one filter element, guiding the at least one filter element past a detection device, generating a start signal as soon as an end of the at least one filter element has passed the detection device, rotating the drum in a crosswise axial direction after receiving the start signal, and moving the at least one filter element into the filter element magazine.

Device and process for conveying rod-shaped filter elements

A magazine for rod-shaped articles comprises a storage unit having at least one inlet for receiving at least one of the articles supplied to the storage unit and at least one outlet for discharging at least one of the articles positioned in the storage unit. A variable length belt element disposed in the storage unit has a length which defines a fixed storage unit for accommodating a predetermined number of articles. The length of the belt element is expandable for defining a working storage unit, the volume of which can be changed with the expansion of the belt element.

Magazine for rod-shaped articles, in particular filter rods, in the tobacco-processing industry

Apparatus for pneumatically conveying filter rod sections from a sender to a remote cigarette filter tipping machine has a first switching device which receives filter rod sections from a single outlet of the sender, a second switching device which delivers filter rod sections to a single inlet of the tipping machine, and at least two conduits connecting the switching devices. The first switching device can direct filter rod sections into the receiving end of either one of the conduits while establishing a path for the evacuation of piled-up filter rod sections from the other conduit. The second switching device can connect the inlet of the tipping machine with the discharge end of either of the two conduits while connecting the discharge end of the other conduit with a source of compressed air in the event of clogging of the other conduit.

Pipe junction for pneumatic transfer of rod-shaped smokers' products

Apparatus for transporting a file of successive filter rod sections lengthwise from a sender (such as a filter rod making machine) to a remote receiver (such as the magazine of a filter tipping machine) has an elongated pneumatic conduit with a section-receiving end at the sender and a section-discharging end at the receiver. The speed of lengthwise movement of sections in the conduit is monitored by a sensor which generates signals serving to control the operation of a valve which can influence the speed of the articles by varying the effective size of an outlet for the escape of air from the conduit, and/or to control the operation of a valve serving to admit into the conduit air counter to the direction of advancement of the sections. The purpose of evacuation of appropriate quantities of air from, or of admission of selected quantities of air into, the conduit is to maintain the speed of the sections in the conduit within a desired range regardless of the number of sections in the conduit.

Pneumatic transport and control device for transporting filter rod sections

Apparatus for conveying filter rod sections from storage or from a maker to a reservoir or to a filter tipping machine for cigarettes or other rod-shaped articles of the tobacco processing industry has a first conveyor which advances the filter rod sections lengthwise, a second conveyor which advances the sections sideways, and a unit which transfers successive sections of a series of sections delivered by the first conveyor to the second conveyor. The advancement of sections by the first conveyor is interrupted if the spacing between successive sections in the first conveyor is less than required for disturbance-free transfer of sections from the first conveyor into the second conveyor. One or more sensors are provided to minitor the movements of sections at the transfer unit and to generate signals which are utilized to remove sections from the transfer unit when the pattern of movement of sections from the first conveyor to the second conveyor departs from a desired pattern.
