A photodynamic therapy (PDT) system includes an elongated interventional device with a bundle of optical fibers forming respective light exit ports which can be individually accessed. The bundle has an optical shape sensing fiber arranged for sensing position and orientation of the light exit ports. A processor is configured to generate a light dose signal to allow generation of light outputs to the optical fibers. The light dose signal is generated in response to the determined position and orientation of the light exit ports, and three-dimensional body anatomy image information obtained by a first image modality. The processor is also configured to take image information regarding distribution of a photo sensitizer in the body tissue as input, as well as take into account image information regarding a concentration of oxygen in the body tissue.

The invention relates to a temperature distribution determining apparatus for determining a temperature distribution within an object caused by applying energy to the object. A temperature distribution measuring unit () measures a spatially and temporally dependent first temperature distribution in the object (), while the energy is applied to the object () such that the object () is heated to a temperature within a first temperature range, and a temperature distribution estimating unit () estimates a spatially and temporally dependent second temperature distribution in the object () within a second temperature range, which is different to the first temperature range, based on the spatial and temporal dependence of the measured first temperature distribution. Since temperature distributions can be obtained not only in the first temperature range, but also in the second temperature range, the overall temperature range, in which the temperature distribution can be determined, can be increased.

A method for colon screening and collecting data by using Magnetic Particle Imaging wherein an imaging magnetic field is generated with a spatial distribution of the magnetic field strength such that the area of examination in the colon consists of a first sub-area with lower magnetic field strength, where the magnetization of a magnetic particle which was pre-delivered to the colon is not saturated, and a second sub-area with a higher magnetic field strength, where the magnetization of said magnetic particle is saturated. The spatial location of both sub-areas in the area of examination is modified so that the magnetization of said particles changes locally. Signals are acquired and are evaluated to obtain information about the spatial distribution of the signals in the area of examination. The method may be carried out during an entire peristaltic cycle in a colon portion or segment.

A system is provided for obtaining a nuclear image of a moving object. The system comprises an input (), a processing unit () and an output (). The input () is provided for receiving a nuclear image and morphological images of the object. The processing unit () is configured to process the morphological images to obtain sparse motion information of the object, to use the sparse motion information and a motion model for obtaining estimated motion information about the object, and to generate a motion-corrected nuclear image based on the estimated motion information and the acquired nuclear image. The output () provides the corrected nuclear image.

Nuclear image reconstruction

A scanner () is used to provide images for automated diagnoses of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimers disease. The images are registered () to a template (). The aligned image is analyzed () in relation to reference image data () which has been registered to the template which is contained in a knowledge maintenance engine () for similar patterns of hypo-intensity that would indicate (in the case of an FDG tracer) reduced glucose uptake in the brain. The most appropriate reference images for the analysis of the present study are chosen by a filter (). The present study is then given a dementia score () as a diagnostic feature vector that indicates to a clinician the type and severity of the ailment based on the analysis. The scanner () can produce PET or other metabolic and MR images for diagnosis. The MR can be used to measure blood flow rate into the brain. From the blood flow rate and the metabolic image, tracer, e.g. FDG, uptake maps can be generated for use in the automated diagnoses.

Automated diagnosis and alignment supplemented with positron emission tomography (PET) and magnetic resonance (MR) flow estimation

A therapeutic system includes a therapy module to direct a therapeutic action, e.g. focused ultrasound or RF energy to a target. An imaging module, such as a magnetic resonance examination system, generates image information of a therapy region that includes the target. By way of a motion analysis module, a motion vector field is derived from the image information of the therapy region. A control module controls the therapy module based on the motion vector field. For example, based on t the motion vector field, an accurate temperature distribution is derived from magnetic resonance signals and the motion vector field. Also magnetic resonance elastography data may be employed to improve the accuracy of the temperature distribution.

Image guided therapy

The invention relates to a system for adapting a plurality of model meshes to a plurality of image data. The system has a registration unit for registering the plurality of model meshes with the plurality of image data on the basis of a computation of a registration transformation for transforming the plurality of model meshes, and an adaptation unit for adapting the plurality of registered model meshes to the plurality of image data on the basis of a computation of locations of mesh vertices of the plurality of model meshes. The described system is capable of reducing motion artifacts in tomographic images computed from data acquired at a plurality of different cardiac cycle phases.

Reduction of heart motion artifacts in thoracic CT imaging

In the CT imaging of non-homogeneously moving objects such as the heart or the coronary vessel tree, there is a problem that different parts of the objects are at rest at different points in time. Thus, a gated reconstruction with a globally selected time point does not yield a sharp image of such objects. According to the present invention, a motion of the object is estimated, describing the motion of selected regions of these objects. Then, on the basis of the estimated motion, time points are determined, where these areas have minimal motion. Then, an image is reconstructed, wherein the data from which the respective regions are reconstructed, correspond to the respective time points, where the regions have minimal motion. Due to this, an improved image quality may be provided.

In order to provide a security system, in particular in a motor vehicle (), comprising a transmitter which transmits a signal in the form of an electromagnetic field () and a transportable receiver () which receives the signal and sends back a corresponding response signal to a further receiver, in which it is more difficult to imitate the signal transmitted by the transmitter, it is proposed that a gradient of the electromagnetic field () can be detected by the receiver ().
