Described herein are compounds according to Formula (I) wherein each Rf is independently selected from a perfluorinated divalent group comprising 2 to 12 carbon atoms; and m is an integer independently selected from 1 to 3. A method of making the compound from a hydroxy-containing vinyl ether and excess ammonia is disclosed. In one embodiment, the hydroxy-functionalized triazine compound is used in a curable fluoropolymer composition and cured to form articles.

The composition includes a curable fluoropolymer having nitrogen-containing cure sites and a curative including an organo onium cation and an anion represented by Formula (I) or Formula (II). The composition is free of metal cations or has not more than 20 parts per million metal cations and free of silicon dioxide or has less than 0.5 percent by weight silicon dioxide, based on the total weight of the composition. In some cases, the composition consists of the curable fluoropolymer and the curative. Shaped articles including the composition, a fluoroelastomer prepared by curing the composition, a method of making a fluoroelastomer article, and a process for making the composition are also described.

Described herein are compounds according to Formula (I) wherein Rf is a perfluorinated divalent group comprising 2 to 12 carbon atoms; and Z is selected from —CH═CH, and —CHCH═CH. A method of making the compound from a functionalized vinyl ether and ammonia is disclosed. In one embodiment, the functionalized triazine-containing compound is used in the polymerization of a fluoropolymer. In another embodiment, the functionalized triazine-containing compound is used in a curable fluoropolymer composition and cured to form articles.

Fluoroelastomers containing at least 25 weight percent perfluorinated thermoplastic fillers are described. The perfluorinated thermoplastic fillers comprise a first perfluorinated thermoplastic filler having a first d50 particle size of 10 to 250 nanometers, and a second perfluorinated thermoplastic filler having a second d50 particle size of 5 to 500 micrometers. The first thermoplastic filler may be obtained from a latex while the second thermoplastic filler may be obtained as a dry powder. Methods of making such materials and cured articles prepared from them are also described.

Described herein are fluoropolymer compositions comprising a bis phthalonitrile-containing compound. In one embodiment, the bis phthalonitrile-containing compound is used to crosslink a dehydrohalogenated polymer, and optionally with a polyhydroxy curative. In another embodiment, the bis phthalonitrile-containing compound is added to a composition comprising (i) a fluorinated elastomeric gum, wherein the fluorinated elastomeric gum comprises a fluoropolymer having a cure-site and (ii) a peroxide curing system.

Described herein are fluoropolymer compositions comprising a compound of Formula (I) wherein Xis selected from O or S; L is a divalent linking group comprising at least one aromatic ring; O and Xcomprises a carbon-carbon double bond. In one embodiment, the phthalonitrile-containing compound is added to a composition comprising (i) a fluorinated elastomeric gum, wherein the fluorinated elastomeric gum comprises a fluoropolymer having a cure-site and (ii) a peroxide curing system.

Described herein are fluoropolymer compositions comprising a compound of Formula I wherein Xis selected from O or S; L is a divalent linking group comprising at least one aromatic ring; and Xis selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl group, an amino group, a thiol group, and a nitrile group. Described herein is a millable fluorinated block copolymer having (a) at least one A block, wherein the A block is a semi-crystalline segment comprising repeating divalent monomeric units derived from at least TFE, HFP and VDF; (b) at least one B block, wherein the B block is a segment comprising repeating divalent monomeric units derived from at least HFP and VDF; and (c) a bisolefin monomer, wherein at least (i) the semi-crystalline segment of the A block comprises repeating divalent monomeric units derived from TFE, HFP, VDF, and the bisolefin monomer, (ii) the segment of the B block comprises repeating divalent monomeric units derived from HFP, VDF, and the bisolefin monomer, or (iii) a combination thereof; and wherein the millable fluorinated block copolymer has a modulus of 0.1 to 2.5 MPa at 100&#xb0; C.
