A swim fin has at least one fastening member dimensioned to fasten the swim fin onto a user's lower leg between the user's knee and foot. A fin portion is connected to the at least one fastening member and extending laterally outwardly from the fastening member. The connection between the fin portion and the at least one fastening member permits the fin portion to be repositioned upwardly or downwardly relative to the user's lower leg along the at least one fastening member. The present swim fin is equally adaptable for use attached to a swimmer's forearm.

Swim fin

A swim fin comprises a foot portio and a web portion. The foot portion has a shoe for receiving the foot of a wearer and has a plurality of openings in a toe end of the foot portion. The web portion extends from the foot portion and has a first end, a second end, a plurality of support members having web material associated therewith, and a plurality of bosses positioned adjacent the first end connected with the plurality of openings. In an embodiment of the swim fin, a toe end of the foot portion is curved relative to an imaginary plane extending along a lower surface of the foot portion and has the plurality of openings along a surface of the toe end.

An apparatus and method for manufacturing a drainage line unit. The apparatus includes a mandrel having an inner cavity. Rear, upper and front openings communicate with the mandrel cavity. Preferably, a controller connected to at least one sensor is operably positioned to control the apparatus. A pipe feeder feeds perforated vent pipe through the inner cavity of the mandrel from the rear opening to the front opening and therethrough. The pipe is positioned within the inner tube cavity so as to define a void space between the pipe and the wall of the mandrel. A hopper assembly has an exit port positioned for feeding a plurality of plastic bodies into the cavity. A blower produces a sufficient air flow through the mandrel cavity for moving the plurality of plastic bodies to substantially fill the void space so that the pipe emerges from the front opening of the mandrel surrounded by the plurality of plastic bodies. A sleeve feeder feeds a continuous sleeve of netting over the plurality of plastic bodies and the vent pipe emerging through the front opening of the mandrel to form a drainage line. A separator is positioned downstream from the front opening for fastening the continuous sleeve of netting to the vent pipe as the pipe emerges through the front opening of the mandrel, so as to substantially encase the plurality of plastic bodies around the vent pipe. Following the fastening operation, the separator cuts the drainage line, thereby forming a completed drainage line unit.

Apparatus for manufacturing drainage line units and associated methods

An apparatus and method for treatment of waste water effluent includes a main conduit connected to a source of waste water, and a removable filter positioned within the main conduit, the filter comprising a light weight particulate material for filtration of the effluent. A drain field for filtration treatment of waste water effluent comprises a source of waste water effluent, a main conduit in fluid connection with the source of waste water, and at least one in-line filter positioned within the main conduit, the filter comprising light weight particulate material. The drain field may comprise at least one extension conduit connected in fluid communication with the main conduit and extending substantially upwardly therefrom, said extension conduit having a removable cap comprising a sensor to thereby generate a signal when water in said extension conduit reaches a predetermined level.

In-line filtration system for treatment of septic tank effluent

An aggregate chamber for leaching effluent comprises a chamber cavity, at least one panel positioned along a periphery of the chamber cavity, and aggregate for filtering effluent. The chamber unit may include a plurality of foldingly connected panels, and at least one conduit for delivering effluent. A leach line comprises a trench excavated in a leach field, and a plurality of chamber units having a cavity, at least one panel, and aggregate for filtering effluent. A leach field comprises a source of effluent, a plurality of trenches excavated in the soil adjacent the source of effluent, and a plurality of leach lines positioned in the plurality of trenches in fluid connection with the source of effluent, each leach line having at least one chamber unit comprising a cavity, at least one panel, and an aggregate for filtering effluent. A method aspect of the invention includes leaching effluent by conducting effluent from a source to a chamber, filtering the effluent through an aggregate, and leaching the effluent into the leach field. A method of constructing a leach field comprises excavating a plurality of trenches, positioning a plurality of panels in the trenches to define a plurality of walls for chamber leach lines, positioning aggregate adjacent the plurality of panels for substantially filtering the effluent leaching into the field, and connecting the aggregate chamber leach lines to a source of effluent.

An apparatus and method for treatment of waste water effluent includes a main conduit connected to a source of waste water, and a removable filter positioned within the main conduit, the filter having a light weight particulate material for filtration of the effluent. A drain field for filtration treatment of waste water effluent includes a source of waste water effluent, a main conduit in fluid connection with the source of waste water, and at least one in-line filter positioned within the main conduit, the filter having a light weight particulate material. The drain field may include at least one extension conduit connected in fluid communication with the main conduit and extending substantially upwardly therefrom, the extension conduit having a removable cap and a sensor to thereby generate a signal when water in the extension conduit reaches a predetermined level.

A sequential flow filtration chamber for treatment of waste water effluent from a septic tank comprises an inlet positioned in fluid communication with the septic tank for receiving waste water into the chamber, at least one partition positioned within the chamber so as to define a substantially sequential flow path for the waste water, a filter positioned within the flow path for filtering the waste water flowing therethrough, and an outlet positioned in fluid communication with the flow path for discharging filtered waste water from the chamber. The chamber may include a sequential flow path disposed substantially vertically or substantially horizontally. A sequential flow nitrification drain field for filtration treatment of waste water comprises a source of waste water, and at least one sequential flow filtration chamber. The source of waste water for the drain field is preferably a septic tank. The drain field may comprise a plurality of chambers connected in fluid communication. A method of treating waste water effluent from a septic tank includes the step of sequentially filtering the waste water effluent by channeling the waste water through a flow path containing a plurality of filtering particles so as to sufficiently treat the waste water for discharge. The step of filtering may be performed a plurality of times before the waste water is discharged.

Sequential flow filtration chamber for treatment of waste water and associated method

The invention describes a filter container, system and method for filtering sewage effluent from a septic tank. The filter container includes a body having a lower end and an upper end, having walls forming a floor positioned at the lower end and sides connected to the floor and positioned to define an inner cavity extending from the lower end to the upper end. The body of the container has a mouth opening positioned at the upper end to provide access to the inner cavity. A lid is positioned on the upper end of the body so as to cover the mouth cavity to thereby close the container. A plurality of pipes connect the container in fluid communication with the septic tank or with another container, the plurality of pipes including at least one inlet pipe for delivering sewage effluent to the inner cavity and at least one outlet pipe for discharging filtered sewage effluent from the inner cavity. The filter container also includes at least one filter having a filter matrix of a lightweight particulate material, the filter being positioned within the inner cavity of the filter container for filtering the sewage effluent. A system for filtering sewage effluent from a septic tank, the system includes a plurality of filter containers connected in fluid communication with the septic tank such that each filter container of the plurality is connected with at least one other filter container to form a chain of filter containers.

A method for manufacturing preassembled drainage line units comprises feeding a length of perforated vent pipe along a direction of manufacture longitudinally through a tubular mandrel, feeding a continuous sleeve of netting concentrically over the vent pipe along the direction of manufacture from a front end of the mandrel and continuously supplying quantities of artificial aggregate into the space between the sleeve of netting and the vent pipe. A low friction coating is applied to the inside surface of the mandrel to reduce the surface friction of the artificial aggregate caused by compaction, and to permit high speed manufacture.

Light-weight drainage line units

Preassembled drainage line units for a septic tank nitrification field employ a predetermined length of perforated conduit having an aggregation of discrete, crush resistant, light-weight elements surrounding the length of conduit and a perforated sleeve member enveloping the aggregation and bounding the same relative to the conduit with the ends of the conduit extending beyond the sleeve. The drainage line unit is provided with connecting means at each extending end, for end-to-end interconnection with an adjacent drainage line unit.

Light-weight drainage line unit employing end-to-end connectors

A preassembled unit for a sewage nitrification field has minimum outward dimensions of loose, lightweight plastic aggregate material enveloped and bound by a plastic sleeve around a horizontal conduit. In one embodiment, the unit takes a bag form with an aggregate-filled netting sleeve concentrically surrounding and fastened to the ends of corrugated plastic vent pipe. In another form, the sleeve is a plastic extrusion of rectangular cross-section and the conduit can be formed integrally with the sleeve. Cross-webbing is added for strength. In ground installation, conduitless units make up the insufficiency of aggregate dimension. Mating male and female end caps are used to interconnect the conduit of adjacent units end-to-end. Apparatus for manufacturing the concentric netting sleeve/vent pipe version has a hopper that discharges aggregate into the top of a mandrel and an annular disc or helical auger blade that pushes the aggregate forward into the sleeve.
