An integrated drilling system includes a rotary steerable control unit and an electromagnetic LWD control unit deployed in an external collar. The rotary steerable control unit is deployed below the electromagnetic LWD control unit and is configured to control a direction of drilling of the integrated drilling system. A near bit electromagnetic antenna is deployed in a recess on the collar circumferentially about the rotary steerable control unit. At least one electromagnetic transmitter and at least one electromagnetic receiver are deployed in corresponding recesses in the collar circumferentially about the electromagnetic LWD control unit with the at least one transmitter and at least one receiver configured to make electromagnetic logging measurements while drilling. An electrical jumper provides an electrical connection between the near bit electromagnetic antenna and the electromagnetic LWD control unit.

A device for cold rolling a thread on a tubular support member of a rotary shouldered thread connection includes obtaining an original root depth of a thread root, cold rolling the thread until a minimum increased root depth tolerance is achieved.

A technique facilitates controlling fluid flow in a well system or other flow related system. The control of fluid flow may be accomplished by utilizing a flow control valve which is selectively actuated via the controlled application of an actuating fluid. An isolation valve is positioned along the flow of actuating fluid at a location upstream of the flow control valve. The isolation valve establishes a preset pressure which is applied to establish flow of actuating fluid to the flow control valve and also isolates detrimental pressure transients. For example, the isolation valve may be used to reduce or block the propagation of detrimental pressure transients along the actuating fluid to other controlled devices.

System and methodology for utilizing a flow control valve

A thread structure in accordance to one or more embodiments includes a thread extending helically along a portion of a bit body in spaced thread turns, the thread having a crest extending between a first flank and a second flank and a root extending between the thread turns, the root having a curvature defined by a portion of an ellipse tangentially adjoining the first and second flank at respective flank transition points, the ellipse having a major axis extending parallel to the axis and a minor axis extending perpendicular to the major axis and through a root bottom.

Rotary shouldered connections and thread design

A technique facilitates control of fluid flows in a wide variety of applications and environments, including downhole well environments. The technique utilizes a valve system which may include a shear seal valve for controlling fluid flows. The valve system utilizes port arrangements, components for energizing shear seals between mating components, and/or actuating components with improved degrees of freedom. The components facilitate repeatable and consistent actuation and operation of the valve system in the wide variety of applications and environments.

A system and method is used to protect a motor of a submersible pumping system. A variety of motor protector features are provided to facilitate operation of the motor protector and submersible pumping system in multiple wellbore environments and applications.

An assembly employing multiple eccentric devices about a mandrel. The assembly is configured such that at least one of the eccentric devices is adjustably orientable relative another. Thus, for example, where the devices are packers disposed about completions tubing, the adjustable orientation may be utilized to ensure enough clearance is available for downhole advancement of the assembly. As such, the assembly may remain eccentric in nature without concern over damage during positioning, particularly to a communication line running to actuatable implements of equipment coupled to the completions assembly.

A technique is provided that utilizes one or both of a control line actuation mechanism and a connector protection mechanism for use in a wellbore environment. Upon landing a lower well assembly and an upper well assembly at a desired wellbore location, control line connectors are engaged. The control line actuation mechanism and/or connector protection mechanism facilitate the formation of a desirable control line connection.

Downhole wet mate connection

A technique is provided for engaging and disengaging an upper completion with a lower completion positioned in a wellbore. The upper completion comprises an upper communication line, and the lower completion comprises a lower communication line. The upper completion is mechanically latched with the lower completion and the communication lines are coupled in a manner that enables selective engagement and disengagement. A communication line union is used to connect the upper communication line and the lower communication line in a plurality of rotational orientations of the upper completion relative to the lower completion.

System and method for engaging completions in a wellbore

A downhole contraction joint. The downhole contraction joint can include at least one anti-rotation assembly. The anti-rotation assembly can include a first tubular member at least partially disposed within a second tubular member. An axial slot can be formed through at least a portion of the first tubular member, and at least one key can be at least partially disposed within the second tubular member and the axial slot. The downhole contraction joint can also have at least one resetting assembly disposed at a first end of the anti-rotation assembly. The resetting assembly can include a c-ring secured to the second tubular member. The first tubular member can be secured to the lock ring, and the lock ring can be aligned with the c-ring. The downhole contraction joint can also include at least one control line assembly disposed about a portion of the anti-rotation assembly.

Systems and methods for downhole completions. A downhole running tool can have a body having a bore formed therethrough. A latch member can be disposed on a first portion of the body. A reset member can be disposed on a second portion of the body. A conduit can be formed within a sidewall of the body. The conduit can be located between the first and second portions of the body. A pressure relief port can be disposed at a first end of the conduit; and a first flow port can be disposed at a second end of the conduit. The pressure relief port and first flow port can be in communication with an outer diameter of the body.
