A progressing cavity pump/motor includes a stator () having a metal interior surface () and one or more spiraling internal lobes (). The rotor () has a metal exterior surface () and one or more spiraling external lobes () for cooperating with the stator to form progressing cavities between the stator and the rotor during rotation of the rotor. At least one of the stator interior surface and the rotor exterior surface include a plurality of spaced grooves () in the respective surface, such that fluid flowing to a gap between the stator and the rotor is disrupted by the spaced grooves to reduce fluid leakage between the stator and the rotor.

Progressing cavity pump/motor

A progressing cavity pump/motor () includes a stator housing (), a polymeric layer (), and a rotor (). A plurality of axially extending grooves () are formed in the interior surface of the stator housing for receiving polymeric material therein. At least one seal gland () adjacent an end of the polymeric layer maintains sealing between the stator housing and the polymeric layer.

A closureis provided for retaining fluid pressure within a vessel, and comprises a hubhaving an access opening to the vessel, with the hub having a circumferential stopand one or more recesseseach extending radially outward from an adjacent inner surfaceof the hub. A dooris positioned between the stop surface and the vessel, and a latch memberbrings the door into sealing engagement with the stop member. One or more lugseach extend radially outward from an exterior surface of the door, which may be tilted from a closed position to an open position then back to the closed position by a pair of cables extending from the door to outside the hub.

Closure for a vessel

A closureis provided for retaining fluid pressure within a vessel, and comprises a hubhaving an access opening to the vessel, with the hub having a circumferential stopand one or more recesseseach extending radially outward from an adjacent inner surfaceof the hub. A dooris positioned between the stop surface and the vessel, and a latch memberbrings the door into sealing engagement with the stop member. One or more lugseach extend radially outward from an exterior surface of the door, such that a respective lug engages the hub about a respective recess to seal the door to the hub, while the door may be moved to pass through the one or more recesses and out of the hub.

A progressing cavity pump/motor includes a stator tube (), a rotor () within the stator tube, and a coupling assembly () interconnecting the upper and lower rotor sections. The coupling includes a drive adapter () and a socket adapter () for transmitting torque between the upper and lower rotor sections, and at least one alignment surface () in cooperation with a mating surface to rotationally position the drive adapter within the socket adapter at a selected circumferential position. The pump/motor may be reliably assembled in the field while maintaining precise axial and rotational positioning of the rotor sections.

A progressing cavity pump/motor includes an upper stator tube (), a lower stator tube (), a rotor () sitting between the upper and lower stator tubes, and a coupling assembly () interconnecting the stator tubes comprising an outer sleeve (), an inner sleeve () and a nut () for threaded engagement with at least one of the sleeves to bring a stop surface on the inner sleeve into mating engagement with the stop surface on the outer sleeve. The pump/motor is usually assembled in the field while maintaining precise axial and rotational positioning of the stator tubes.

A drive assembly for powering a rotating rod string () passing through a surface wellhead () includes a torque conveying housing () containing a radially outer member supporting a plurality of outer member magnets and rotated by a motor. A radially inner member () supports a plurality of inner member magnets and is rotatable within the outer member, with magnetic forces between the plurality of outer member magnets and the plurality of inner member magnets rotating the inner member magnets and thus the radially inner member.

Sealed drive for a rotating sucker rod

A closure includes a hub having a bore in fluid communication with the port of a vessel. A door is removably positioned within the bore of the hub, and a locking ring is threaded with the hub thread for moving the door to a closed and circumferentially sealed position against the shoulder. At least one rotatable actuator element, such as a plurality of gears, engages the locking ring and is rotated to rotate the locking ring. A breaker bar or impact wrench could be used to rotatable drive the actuator elements.

Method of applying a high pressure closure

A pumping systemis provided for pumping fluid from a downhole well to the surface through a production tubing string well. A rotatable drive rodextends from the surface to power the downhole pump, and includes a plurality of rod couplings. The downhole pump includes a pump statorand a rotorrotatable within the pump stator. A lifting memberprovided at the upper end of the stator is engaged by a drive couplingto retrieve the pump from the well. The lifting member has an internal shouldertapered radially inwardly and upwardly, such that a rod coupling engages the internal shoulder and passes through the lifting member as the rotor is pulled upward.

Retrievable downhole pumping system

A progressing cavity pump or a motor includes, in one embodiment, an outer tube, an inner tube, and a plurality of apertures. A pair of annular seal glandsseal the stator material to the outer tube. The stator material is injection molded into the inner tube and passes through the plurality of apertures and into an annular gap between the inner tube and the outer tube. In other embodiments, the outer housing for a progressing cavity pump or motor is provided with one or more grooves, with each groove having an outer surface radius less than the outer housing surface radius. A plurality of apertures are provided in fluid communication with the grooves. According to the method of the invention, the stator material is injected into the apertures and fills a space radially outward of the apertures to bond the stator materiaal to the outer housing.

High pressure closure

A downhole pump system allows fluid to be pumped from a well to the surface through a production tubing string, while also allowing the downhole pump to be retrieved to the surface while the production tubing string remains in the well. The downhole pump may include a hold down housing , a mandrel , a drive coupling , and a lifting nut . The pump is driven by a drive rod, which conventionally extends from the surface to the downhole pump. Axial movement of pump components may be prevented by a spring lock mechanism , while torque transmitting surfaces prevent rotation of the pump housing with respect to a landing nipple
