Various circuits may benefit from suitable protection. For example, certain displays, such as active matrix liquid crystal displays, may benefit from enclosures configured to protect driver circuits from high intensity radiated fields. A system can include a first protective conductive coating layer. The system can also include a first insulating layer on the first protective conductive layer. The system can further include a signal conductive layer on the insulating layer. The system can additionally include a driver layer mounted to the signal conductive layer. The system can also include a second insulating layer above the driver layer. The system can further include a second protective conductive coating layer on the second insulating layer. The system can additionally include one or a plurality of conductive elements disposed between the first protective conductive coating layer and the second protective conductive coating layer to form an enclosure around the driver layer.

Chip on glass protection

A fault-tolerant LCD display system comprises an LCD panel and a first driver coupled to the LCD panel and including a first gate driver and a first source driver, the first driver including a first transient voltage suppressor. A second driver is also coupled to the LCD panel and includes a second gate driver and a second source driver, the second driver including a second transient voltage suppressor. One of the first and second drivers is operable to be active while the other is inactive, and vice versa, and the first and second drivers are isolated from one another. The first and second transient voltage suppressors are operable to prevent a back biasing voltage from leaking back through the inactive driver and thus the transient voltage suppressors are operative to prevent a back biasing voltage from shunting through the non-active driver.

Fault-tolerant LCD display

Digital video signals are transmitted from a transmitter to a receiver via a digital video interface including shielded twisted pair cables that are surrounded by an over-braid shield. The over-braid shield is connected to a chassis ground at a transmitting end and the receiving end. An interface conveys the received signals to receiver processing circuitry. The interface is connected to an isolated ground, isolating the receiver processing circuitry. The twisted pairs are also connected to the isolated ground, such that a return current is forced back through the twisted pair cable shields rather than the over-braid shield. This reduces electromagnetic emissions and confines transients primarily to the over-braid shield.

Isolated digital video interface receiver and method for isolating received digital video interface signals

An apparatus and method for providing an isolated high-speed digital interface for communicating high-speed digital data within a vehicle. In architecture, the interface includes one or more input terminals and one or more output terminals. Each output terminal being associated with one of the one or more input terminals without any electrically conductive path existing between the output terminal and the input terminal, and instead the input terminal and the output terminal are coupled to one another by an optical coupling. The present invention can also be viewed as a method that can be broadly summarized by the following steps, providing at least one input terminal for receiving data and providing at least one output terminal. Wherein the output terminal is associated with the one input terminal without any electrically conductive path existing between the output terminal and the input terminal, are coupled to one another by an optical coupling.

Isolated high-speed digital interface for vehicles

Optical network interface systems and devices are described. In one embodiment of the present invention, an optical transport system comprises an optical bus capable of transmitting data signals, a plurality of optical bus interface modules connected to the optical bus, wherein each optical bus interface module is capable of inputting data signals on the optical bus and outputting data signals from the optical bus, a plurality of electronic devices, and a plurality of electro-optical network interfaces, wherein each electro-optical network interface is associated with a single electronic device and is contained in a single structure, wherein each electro-optical interface is capable of receiving data signals from an associated optical bus interface module and passing the data signals to the associated electronic device according to a variety of suitable protocols such as Ethernet, FiberChannel, and Infiniband, and each electro-optical interface is capable of receiving data signals from the associated electronic device and passing the data signals to the associated optical bus interface module according to a variety of suitable protocols such as Ethernet, FiberChannel, and Infiniband.

Optical network interface systems and devices

A communication system includes an optical transmitter which is differentially driven and an optical receiver that outputs a differential signal. The optical transmitter creates the differential drive signal from an input signal and delivers the differential drive signal to a laser. The differential drive signal is generated with a transformer and RF chokes for floating the laser above ground. The signal detected by the receiver is input as a differential signal to a transformer which then passes the signal through amplifiers and a filter. The optical communication system provides an increased spurious-free dynamic range which is well suited for RF signals and other analog signals.

High dynamic range radio frequency to optical link

An active sampler antenna capable of transmitting signals is disclosed. The active sampler antenna includes a first set of conducting surfaces, a second set of conducting surfaces, a power source, and multiple switches. The second set of conducting surfaces is located substantially parallel to the first set of conducting surfaces. The power source has two terminals, namely, a first terminal and a second terminal. The first terminal of the power source is connected to the second set of conducting surfaces. Each of the switches is connected between a respective one of the first set of conducting surfaces and the second terminal of the power source. The switches allows a defined amount and timing of charges to be delivered from the power source to the first set of conducting surface for signal transmissions.
