Textured sorbent material sheets provide for enhanced performance in vapor adsorbing applications over conventional sheets, systems, canisters and other emissions control equipment. The textured sorbent material sheets can be formed as part of a small, lightweight system, canister, or can be integrated into a fuel tank.

Textured sorbent sheets, assemblies containing them, and molds for making same

Sorbent material sheets products that include sorbent material sheets and at least one porous cover layer are attached to an inner wall surface that is defined by an air intake. The sorbent material sheets collect vapors such as hydrocarbon vapors from engine components such as the combustion chamber, injectors, carburetor, fuel ports, crankcase, or other engine components, thereby reducing evaporative emissions. In certain configurations, the sorbent material sheet product includes an edge seal that improves the handling of the sorbent material sheets during the manufacturing process.

Sorbent devices for air intakes

Sorbent material sheets provide for enhanced performance in vapor adsorbing applications over conventional canisters and other emissions control equipment. The sorbent material sheets can be formed as part of a small, lightweight canister, or can be integrated into a fuel tank. The sorbent material sheets can also be used as part of an onboard refueling vapor recovery system to control volatile organic compound emissions from fuel tanks of gasoline vehicles, such as automobiles.

Sorbent devices

A Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU) includes a VRU heat exchanger and a sorbent material for the recovery of hydrocarbon vapors from the ullage of tanks. The VRU heat exchanger and sorbent material are useful in conjunction with a thermal transfer fluid to control the temperatures of the sorbent material during endothermic and exothermic reactions that occur when hydrocarbon vapors are adsorbed and desorbed, which increases performance and reduces the amount of sorbent material required to recover hydrocarbon vapors.

Apparatus for hydrocarbon vapor recovery

Sorbent material sheets are wound around a center core of material that includes additional sorbent. This configuration further increases the packaging efficiency and performance of the sorbent material sheets as part of an overall housing or apparatus. In some embodiments, the sorbent material sheets are arranged in a stacked configuration. Configurations of the sorbent material sheets as part of a canister are also described.

A method and apparatus for removing contaminates from an air stream in which an adsorbent activated carbon cloth is positioned in said air stream. The method and apparatus provide for impressing an electric current through the cloth adsorbent to desorb any contaminates adsorbed thereon.

Method and means for purifying air with a regenerable carbon cloth

A dense pack gas adsorbent means comprising at least one particulate gas adsorbent having a particulate size distribution in which the largest small particles are less than one-third (1/3) the size of the smallest large particle and sixty percent (60%) of the adsorbent particles having a size greater than sixty (60) mesh, said adsorbent particle oriented to provide a packing density grater than one hundred and thirty percent (130%) of the particle's apparent density.

The instant invention is directed to a carbon molecular sieve, having a nitrogen diffusivity of less than 2600.times.10.sup.-8 cm.sup.2 /second, impregnated with from about 0.005 to about 15 percent, by weight, of a mercury reactive material. The instant invention is also directed to a process for removing mercury vapor from gas streams which comprises passing a gas stream containing mercury vapor into contact with a carbon molecular sieve, having a nitrogen diffusivity of less than 2600.times.10.sup.-8 cm.sup.2 /second, impregnated with from about 0.005 to about 15 percent, by weight, of a mercury reactive material.

Mercury adsorbent carbon molecular sieves and process for removing

Aqueous ethanol and other lower alkanol water mixtures may be dehydrated in the gas or liquid phase by using carbon molecular sieves. These sieves preferentially adsorb water and recovery of absolute ethanol or other absolute alkanol is achieved. Absolute ethanol produced from this process may be used in the manufacture of gasohol.
