An example charge holder includes an envelope made from a sheet material of foil formed from a metal or a metal alloy, the envelope defining an interior volume to receive therein a charge having a charge volume less than or equal to the interior volume, wherein a ratio of a charge volume of the interior volume to an envelope material volume is 5.0 or greater.

High-fragmenting flashbang grenade charge holder

In some examples, a charge holder for a grenade has an envelope made from one or more layers of a sheet material to define an interior volume to receive a charge having a charge volume less than or equal to the interior volume and a neck configured to connect to a flashbang grenade body, wherein a ratio of a charge volume of the interior volume to an envelope material volume is about 5.0 or greater.

A shaft characterized by its length to diameter ratio being less than about 1.75 having a drive connection at one end where the wall thickness of the shaft is selected to be thick enough to avoid ellipticalization strain error in torsional measurement of less than 5%. One specific application is for a crankset spindle that can be used to measure a cyclist right, left, and total leg torque.

Hydraulic devices used to control timing, direction, and velocity of fluid flow are disclosed. The hydraulic device includes a flush valve. The flush valve includes one or more venturi that assist in moving the fluid through flush valve. A manifold includes a housing defining a piston cavity and a piston. The piston is moveable within the piston cavity by a piston actuator between a first position and a second position. A manifold inlet defined by the housing is configured to receive a first fluid from a supply line and is in fluid communication with the piston cavity. A manifold outlet is defined by the housing and is in fluid communication with the piston cavity in. In the first position, the piston prevents fluid communication between the manifold inlet and the manifold outlet through the piston cavity. In the second position, the manifold inlet is in fluid communication with the manifold outlet such that the first fluid can flow from the supply line to the manifold outlet through the piston cavity.

A process for the manufacture of metal products includes the steps of providing a mold including a first portion made of an aggregate and a binder, delivering a molten metal into the mold, removing a first portion of the mold with a fluid and solidifying at least one targeted portion of the molten metal which will form the metal product with the fluid. A flow of fluid to the mold is stopped for a period of time. Subsequently, a remaining portion of the molten metal is solidified to form the metal product. The at least one targeted portion of the metal product has better mechanical properties than does a remaining portion of the metal product. A unitary, one-piece aluminum alloy component with differing mechanical properties is also disclosed.

Ablation casting process

A stun grenade includes a cartridge having an explosive charge in communication with a fuse and a housing including a closed end, an open end, a longitudinal axis and including an internal cavity which accommodates the cartridge. An end cap is attachable to the open end of the housing, the end cap including an end wall and a side wall. A plurality of spaced first vents are defined in the end wall of the end cap. A plurality of spaced second vents is defined in an end wall of the housing. The output from an explosive charge is optimized by vents having a straight flow path. The vents have a first end in fluid communication with the cavity and a second end in fluid communication with an exterior periphery of the housing.

Low-weight small-form-factor stun grenade

A torque sensor for a human-powered object includes a spindle connecting crank arms of the object. In one embodiment, the object can be a bicycle. The torque sensor further includes at least one strain gauge mounted to the spindle in a shear pattern to measure shear strain perpendicular to a radius of the spindle. In some embodiments, the torque sensor further includes a carrier fixed to a hollow interior of the spindle, where at least one strain gauge is mounted to the spindle via the carrier. Advantageously, the torque sensor provides a low cost method to measure power.
