The present disclosure is directed to an ultracapacitor module comprising a housing and terminals, the terminals exposed through the housing, the housing containing one or more internal capacitor cells and one or more integrated, internal bypass diodes arranged together such that the ultracapacitor module additionally comprises an integrated, internal bypass circuit connected in parallel with the terminals. The present disclosure also is directed to an ultracapacitor module comprising a housing and terminals, the terminals exposed through the housing, the housing containing one or more internal capacitor cells and at least one set of one or more integrated, internal bypass diodes connected in parallel to the at least one or more internal capacitor cells, such that the ultracapacitor module additionally comprises an integrated, internal bypass circuit.

A system and method are provided for controlling a wind. Accordingly, a current condition of a generator of the wind turbine is determined, and an approach of the current condition to a current-dependent limit is detected. The speed of the generator is affected so as to alter a rotor/stator balance of the generator such that the current-dependent limit is not exceeded and the wind turbine can operate at a rated power.

The present subject matter is directed to a system and method for detecting lifting of a ground brush of a generator of an electrical power system connected to a power grid so as to prevent damage to the electrical power system (e.g. bearing failure). The method includes monitoring, via at least one sensor, a voltage signal of a rotor shaft of the generator. The method also includes determining at least one characteristic (e.g. amplitude and/or frequency) of the voltage signal for a predetermined time period. Further, the method includes determining whether the at least one characteristic of the voltage signal is above a predetermined threshold, wherein the at least one characteristic of the voltage signal being above the predetermined threshold is indicative of the ground brush being lifted.

A fixture for removing slip ring assemblies from rotating electrical machinery. The fixture attaches directly to the slip ring assembly through bolted connection points for ease of installation and removal. A jacking mechanism provides mechanical leverage to pry the slip ring from its heat-shrunk fit mounting location in a manner that is reliable and safe for the service worker and the slip ring assembly. The fixture is lightweight and portable, facilitating use with electrical generators in the field and especially with wind turbine generators located on a wind turbine tower.

A method for detecting stator ground faults in a generator is described. The method includes receiving a neutral voltage signal from a neutral point of a stator, receiving a plurality of terminal voltage and current signals from the stator, deriving a magnitude of a harmonic component from the neutral voltage signal, deriving a total complex power from the terminal voltage and current signals, calculating an expected value of a harmonic based on the complex power at a first time and a plurality of values of the complex power, where the values of the complex power are measured at times before the first time, and comparing the expected value and a measured value of the harmonic.
