The present invention relates to an illumination module for a microscope apparatus, comprising a plurality of monochromatic sources and a control device, wherein the control device is configured to control states of the plurality of the monochromatic sources, and the control device includes a selecting and switching module which realizes a switch among the plurality of monochromatic sources in response to an operation of the user. The design of the illumination module makes the microscope apparatus compact in structure, highly reliable, convenient in use, and extremely enhancing the work efficiency of the user. The present invention also relates to a method for controlling the illumination module, and a microscope apparatus comprising the illumination module.

Illumination module for microscope apparatus, corresponding control method and microscope apparatus

A method for the microscopy scanning of a specimen. An immersion medium is used between a slide and a microscope objective, said immersion medium wetting a surface of the slide, and the microscope objective being relatively displaced over the surface of the slide for imaging. The surface is provided with a coating which repels the immersion medium.

Scanning immersion microscopy

A microscope objective for imaging a specimen using a microscope, the microscope objective having a front lens enclosed by a surround and being designed for microscopy with an immersion liquid. In the microscope objective, the front lens and/or the surround thereof is provided with a coating which can be switched between a state which repels the immersion liquid and a state which does not repel the immersion liquid.

Illumination module for angle-selective illumination

A microscope objective for imaging a specimen using a microscope, the microscope objective being designed as an air objective for microscopy without an immersion medium or as an oil immersion objective for microscopy with an oil-based immersion medium or as a water immersion objective for microscopy with a water-based immersion medium. The front lens of the microscope objective is provided with a coating which repels an immersion medium and is lipophobic and hydrophobic if the objective is an air objective, only lipophobic if the objective is a water immersion objective, and only hydrophobic if the objective is an oil immersion objective.

A microscope and a microscopy method for imaging an object, wherein use is made of a microscope comprising an objective which defines an optical axis and a focal plane perpendicular thereto, and an adjustable correction optical unit which, at the objective, corrects a spherical aberration occurring when imaging the object with a certain depth position of the focal plane. The method comprises the following steps: determining an actual type of object; reading a database in which refractive indices of different types of objects are stored in order to determine the refractive index of the object; using a relationship between the refractive index and the spherical aberration caused by the object in order to ascertain an adjustment value of the correction optical unit such that there is a reduction in the spherical aberration in the focal plane; adjusting the correction optical unit to the adjustment value; and imaging the object.

Angularly-selective illumination

A microscope for imaging an object, comprising a lens assembly, which defines an optical axis and a focal plane perpendicular thereto, and correction optics, which are adjustable for adjustment to a depth position and which correct a spherical aberration on the lens assembly which occurs during imaging of the object at a specific depth position of the focal plane. The microscope may be used to determine a phase difference of radiation from a first lateral region and a second lateral region of the object, and to use a previously known connection between the phase difference and a modification of the spherical aberration caused thereby in order to determine an adjustment value of the correction optics, such that the spherical aberration is reduced when imaging the second region.
