A connector assembly includes a connector housing that defines a terminal cavity. A terminal lock is adapted to retain an electric terminal in the terminal cavity in an installed position. The terminal lock includes a lock arm that extends from the connector housing and a lock tab that extends from the lock arm into the terminal cavity. The terminal lock includes a raised ridge on an outer end of the lock tab.

An electrical connector assembly includes a contact member and a spring member. The contact member has a base and contact arms that extend from the base in an arm direction on opposite sides of a terminal plane. The spring member is supported on the contact member and includes a spring base and spring arms that extend from the spring base in the arm direction. The spring arms are on opposite sides of the terminal plane and engage respective ones of the contact arms at respective spring contacts. The spring member also includes a shroud that is connected to the spring base and has an end shield that extends beyond the arms. The shroud includes side shields that are located on opposite sides of the contact arms and connect the end shield to the spring base. Shield arms also connect the end shield to the spring base.

Electrical terminal assembly with increased contact area

A connector assembly includes a housing that is adapted to hold an electric terminal in a terminal cavity. The connector assembly also includes a terminal position assurance that is movable relative to the housing. A terminal position assurance lock retains the terminal position assurance in a pre-lock position relative to the housing. The terminal position assurance lock also retains the terminal position assurance in a lock position relative to the housing.

Angled electrical header connectors comprise a housing with a first electrical terminal port and a second electrical terminal port oriented apart from one another. A first electrical terminal is disposed within the first electrical terminal port, and a first electrical insulator is interposed between the first electrical terminal port and the first electrical terminal. A second electrical terminal is disposed within the second electrical terminal port, and a second electrical insulator is interposed between the second electrical terminal port and the second electrical terminal. A passage exists between the first electrical terminal port and the second electrical terminal port, and one of the first electrical terminal or the second electrical terminal extends into the electrical terminal port of the other of the first electrical terminal or the second electrical terminal to make an electrical-mechanical connection therebetween in situ within the housing.

Angled electrical header connectors

A connector assembly includes a connector housing that defines a terminal cavity that extends along a cavity axis. A terminal lock is adapted to retain an electric terminal in the terminal cavity in an installed position. The terminal lock includes a lock arm that extends from the connector housing and a lock tab that extends from the lock arm into the terminal cavity. The connector assembly also includes a terminal position assurance that is attached to the connector housing for relative movement between a pre-lock position and a lock position. When the terminal position assurance is in the lock position, it limits movement of the terminal lock away from the cavity axis and it limits movement of the terminal lock toward the cavity axis.

Cable shield grounding electrical connectors comprise a cable having a cable shield, an inner insulating sleeve disposed radially inwardly from the cable shield, and an inner conductor radially inward of the inner insulating sleeve. An inner ferrule includes an outer surface, wherein a portion of the cable shield is disposed along at least a portion of the inner ferrule outer surface. An outer ferrule comprises a first section that is disposed concentrically around the inner ferrule, and wherein the portion of the cable shield is interposed between and in direct contact with each of the inner ferrule and the outer ferrule first section, thereby forming an assembly. The connector comprises a housing having an inner cavity and wherein the assembly is disposed within the inner cavity. An electrically interconnecting element is interposed between the assembly and the housing to provide a grounding electrical connection therebetween.

Shield grounding electrical connectors

An electrical terminal includes a terminal base. A mate portion is attached to the terminal base and is adapted to mate with a corresponding electrical terminal. A conductor contact portion includes a box attached to the terminal base. The box defines an interior space. A lever extends from a wall of the box. The lever includes a curved portion that extends toward the terminal base. The lever is adapted to engage a conductor of a wire inserted into the box. The lever includes lift tabs that extend from the lever to outside the box.

Low-force push-in electrical terminal

A fuse adapter assembly includes a fuse adapter having an adapter base. A fuse shroud extends from the adapter base and defines a fuse cavity. An adapter shroud also extends from the adapter base and defines an adapter terminal space. A fuse terminal opening passes through the adapter base between the fuse cavity and the adapter terminal space. A fuse enclosure is located within the fuse cavity and is configured to retain a fuse. The fuse cavity is configured to engage a header and the adapter shroud is configured to engage an electrical connector.

An electrical connector includes a connector mount. The connector mount has a cavity that is configured to receive a terminal. The electrical connector includes a terminal position assurance. The terminal position assurance is supported on the connector mount for movement between a pre-lock position and a locked position. The electrical connector includes a rocker attached to the connector mount. At least a portion of the rocker is configured move relative to the connector mount from a non-biased to a biased position. The rocker is configured to prevent the terminal position assurance from moving from the pre-lock position to the locked position when the rocker is in the non-biased position.

A method of manufacturing an electrical connector housing assembly includes a step of molding the electrical connector housing assembly with a cover in a pre-lock position.

Method of manufacturing a connector with integral terminal position assurance mechanism

An electrical terminal includes a terminal base. A mate portion is attached to the terminal base. The mate portion is adapted to mate with a corresponding electrical terminal. The electrical terminal includes a conductor contact portion. The conductor contact portion includes a box attached to the terminal base. A lever extends from one wall of the box. The lever is curved to extend toward the terminal base. The lever is adapted to engage a conductor of a wire inserted into the box. The electrical terminal also includes an insulation contact portion. The insulation contact portion is attached to the terminal base. The insulation contact portion is adapted to engage an insulation of the wire.

An electrical connector includes a first housing. A second housing is moveable relative to the first housing. The electrical connector includes a lever mounted on the first housing for relative rotational movement. The lever may move between a pre-stage position and a final position. The lever engages the second housing to move the second housing linearly between a pre-stage position and a seated position relative to the first housing. The electrical connector includes a pre-lock that retains the lever in the pre-stage position relative to the first housing. A pre-lock release on the second housing releases the pre-lock when the second housing is in the pre-stage position relative to the first housing. Releasing the pre-lock allows movement of the lever relative to the first housing.

A header assembly includes a header having a header base. An engagement portion extends from the header base and defines a bus bar space. A header shroud also extends from the header base and defines a terminal space. A terminal opening passes through the header base between the bus bar space and the terminal space. The engagement portion is configured to engage a bus bar and the header shroud is configured to engage an electrical connector.

An electrical terminal assembly includes a contact member. The contact member includes a contact base. A plurality of contact arms extend from the contact base in an arm direction. The contact arms are arranged on opposed sides of a terminal plane. The electrical terminal assembly also includes a spring member. The spring member is supported on the contact member. The spring member includes a spring base. A plurality of spring arms extend from the spring base in the arm direction. The spring arms include respective spring contacts where the spring arms engage one of the contact arms. The spring arms include respective spring deflections between the spring base and the spring contact. Each spring deflection extends into a spring space between adjacent ones of the contact arms.

An electrical terminal housing includes a housing body. The housing body defines a terminal cavity. An insertion opening in the housing body opens into the terminal cavity. A mate opening in the housing body also opens into the terminal cavity. A terminal lock extends from the housing body and is located in the terminal cavity. The terminal lock is adapted to engage an electrical terminal to retain the electrical terminal in the terminal cavity. The terminal lock is offset from the center of a side of the terminal cavity and is located closer to one side wall of the terminal cavity.
