In one aspect is a film comprising: (a) within the range of from 50 to 99 wt % linear low density polyethylene based on the weight of the core composition; and (b) within the range of from 1 to 50 wt % propylene-&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer based on the weight of the core composition, wherein the propylene-&#x3b1;-olefin copolymer possesses: (i) a melting temperature (T) of less than 105&#xb0; C., and (ii) a heat of fusion (H) of less than 75 J/g; wherein the film is a cast or blown film. The films have excellent strength and elasticity and are ideal for such applications as stretch wrap.

Polyethylene stretch film

Temperature resistant multilayer composites, methods for making same, and articles made therefrom. The method can include extruding one or more polyolefin polymers having a MFR from less than 90 dg/min through at least one die having a plurality of nozzles to form a plurality of continuous fibers, at least one die operating at a melt pressure from greater than 500 psi (3447 kPa) to form at least one elastic meltblown layer; adhering the at least one elastic meltblown layer to at least one extensible layer to form a multilayer composite; and at least partially crosslinking the elastic meltblown layer or the extensible layer or both.

Method for producing temperature resistant nonwovens

A film composition comprising one or more propylene-based polymers and one or more hydrocarbon resins, and methods for making the same are provided. The propylene-based polymer may have (i) 60 wt % or more units derived from propylene, (ii) isotactically arranged propylene derived sequences, and (iii) a heat of fusion less than 65 J/g. The hydrocarbon resin may have a glass transition temperature greater than 20&#xb0; C.

Elastic film compositions with improved tear resistance

A film structure having a base layer comprising a film-forming thermoplastic polymer; and a heat-seal layer having a seal-initiation temperature less than or about 130&#xb0; C. and comprising from about 50 to about 98 wt % of a first polymer component and about 2 to about 50 wt % of a second polymer component. The first polymer component comprising propylene-derived units and, optionally, up to about 20 wt % of comonomer units derived from a Cand/or C-C&#x3b1;-olefin, and having a heat of fusion greater than 75 J/g and a melting point greater than or equal to 105&#xb0; C. The second polymer component comprising at least 75 wt % propylene-derived units, and having a melting point less than 105&#xb0; C. and a heat of fusion less than 75 J/g.

Heat sealable films from propylene and &#x3b1;-olefin units

A film comprising one or more propylene-based polymers, one or more hydrocarbon resins, and one or more polyolefin additives provides enhanced mechanical and elastic properties compared to the neat propylene-based polymer. The propylene-based polymer may have (i) 60 wt % or more units derived from propylene; and (ii) crystallinity of from 0.25% to 40%, resulting from isotactically arranged propylene-derived sequences. The hydrocarbon resin may have a glass transition temperature greater than 20&#xb0; C. The polyolefin additive may have a crystallinity greater than the crystallinity of the propylene-based polymer. Methods for making and using the films are also described.

Elastic films having improved mechanical and elastic properties and methods for making the same

A thermoplastic composition for cast and blown films and the resulting films thereof are provided. The film can include about 10 wt % to 80 wt % propylene-based copolymer having at least 50 wt % propylene-derived units and 5 wt % to 30 wt % alpha-olefin comonomer, based on the total weight of the polymer that exhibits a melting point of about 100&#xb0; C. to 170&#xb0; C., and a MFR of about 200 dg/min or less. The film can include about 20 wt % to 90 wt % polypropylene homopolymer having a melting point of about 140&#xb0; C. to 190&#xb0; C. The film can have a thickness of about 10 &#x3bc;m to 100 &#x3bc;m, a haze of 13% or less, a 1% MD Secant tensile modulus of 55,000 to 150,000 psi, a machine direction Elmendorf tear of at least 5 g/mil and a transverse direction Elemdorf tear of at least 300 g/mil, and a 45 degree gloss of at least 70.

Propylene-based blown films with improved performance, stability and elastic properties compared to polyethylene films

Blends of at least two polymers incorporating propylene-derived units and processes for producing such blends are provided. The first polymer of the blend is a low crystallinity polymer including propylene-derived units. The second polymer is a high crystallinity polymer including propylene-derived units. The polymer blends exhibit the beneficial performance characteristics of low crystallinity propylene polymers while minimizing certain processing and handling problems associated with low crystallinity propylene polymers. Low crystallinity propylene polymer pellets often exhibit a tendency to agglomerate because of the softness of such particles. Agglomeration of the pellets creates problems in handling and processing the particles. The polymer blends disclosed reduce the tendency of polymer pellets to agglomerate while maintaining the desirable physical properties, such as elastomeric properties, exhibited by low crystallinity propylene polymers. Various processes for producing the polymer blends are also provided.

Polymer blends and pellets and methods of producing same

Described herein is a thermoplastic physical blend composition comprising (a) from 20 to 95 wt. % based on the total polymer content of a first polymer component that includes polypropylene having a melting point (Tm)&#x2267;110&#xb0; C.; and (b) from 80 to 5 wt. % based on the total polymer content of a second polymer component that includes a reactor blend obtainable from a solution process, the reactor blend including: (i) from 2 to 98 wt. % based on the total weight of the SPC of a propylene polymer having 60 wt. % or more units derived from propylene, including isotactically arranged propylene derived sequences and Tm&#x3c;105&#xb0; C. or a Heat of Fusion&#x3c;45 J/g, or both; and (ii) from 98 to 2 wt. % based on the total weight of the SPC of an ethylene &#x3b1;-olefin elastomer having either no crystallinity or crystallinity derived from ethylene, wherein (c) the FPC and the SPC are physically blended together to form the composition.

Thermoplastic blend compositions

Disclosed herein are various compositions that have particular utility in automotive components, including compositions that include: (a) polypropylene having a melting point of 110&#xb0; C. or more; (b) ethylene &#x3b1;-olefin polymer in which the &#x3b1;-olefin is Cor higher; and (c) propylene polymer, having 60 wt % or more units derived from propylene, including isotactically arranged propylene derived sequences and a heat of fusion less than 45 J/g.

High impact polymer compositions

Storable stairway and platform apparatus for recreational vehicles including a horizontal channel member mounted to the side or end of a vehicle beneath and extending to the side of the door, the channel member reciprocally receiving a pair of slider members; a platform pivotally engaging the slider members; and a stairway pivotally engaging the platform. The stairway is provided with a pair of opposing scissor linkages for folding the steps of the stairway into compact parallel abutment with one another and with the platform. The platform and stairway laterally slide away from the door and are pivotal into a vertical position for storage against the outside wall of the vehicle. The scissor linkages provide for unobstructed steps in addition to superior compact storage. Adjustable levelers are provided on each of the opposing scissor linkages to accommodate for uneven ground support. A novel bannister foldable and attachable to the side of the platform may also be provided.
