A negative electrode active material for a lithium ion battery having the composition formula SiSnNiTiMC, wherein a, b, c, y, m and z represent atomic % values, wherein M is either one of more of Fe, Cr and Co, and wherein a&#x3e;0, b&#x3e;0, z&#x3e;0, y&#x2267;0, 0&#x2266;m&#x2266;1, c&#x3e;5, z+0.5*b&#x3e;a and c+y&#x3e;0.75*b. The process for preparing the active material comprises the steps of:&#x2014;providing a mixture of elemental and/or alloyed powders of the elements in the composition SiSnNiTiMC, and&#x2014;high energy milling under non-oxidizing conditions of the powder mixture.

Si based negative electrode material

A process is disclosed for the preparation of a steel surface for single-dip aluminium-rich zinc galvanizing. The process steps comprise: cleaning the surface so as to obtain less than 0.6 &#x3bc;g/cmresidual dirt; pickling the surface; applying a protective layer to the surface by immersion in a flux solution comprising bismuth. This invention also relates to a continuous steel product coated with a layer of metallic bismuth.

Preparation of steel surfaces for single-dip aluminium-rich zinc galvanising

An alloy for galvanizing steel comprises, by weight, aluminum in the amount of at least 0.001% to 0.007%, preferably 0.002 to 0.004%, tin in the amount of at least 0.5% to a maximum of 2%, preferably at least 0.8%, and one of an element selected from the group consisting of vanadium in the amount of at least 0.02%, preferably 0.05% to 0.12%, titanium in the amount of at least 0.03%, preferably 0.06% to 0.10%, and both vanadium and titanium together in the amount of at least 0.02% vanadium and at least 0.01% titanium for a total of at least 0.03%, preferably 0.05% to 0.15%, the balance zinc containing up to 1.3 wt. % lead. In another embodiment, the alloy comprises, by weight, aluminum in the amount of at least 0.001%, tin in the amount of 0.5% to 2%, and vanadium and nickel together in the amount of at least 0.02% vanadium and at least 0.02% nickel to a maximum of 0.15% vanadium and nickel collectively. Titanium may be added in an amount, by weight, of at least 0.01% titanium to a collective maximum of 0.2% vanadium, nickel and titanium. In a further embodiment, the alloy comprises, by weight, aluminum in the amount of at least 0.001%, tin in the amount of about 0.5% to about 2%, vanadium in the amount of 0.02 to 0.12%, and bismuth in the amount of 0.05% to 0.1%, the balance zinc containing up to 1.3 wt. % lead.

Galvanizing of reactive steels

This disclosure relates to an Sn-containing and/or Bi-containing zinc alloy for hot galvanizing steel, more particularly for component galvanizing. The alloy is composed of 1 to 5% by weight of Sn&plus;Bi, 0 to saturation of Pb, 0.025 to 0.200% by weight of at least one of Ni, Cr or Mn, 0 to 0.030% by weight of at least one of Al, Ca and Mg, the remainder being zinc and unavoidable impurities.
