The invention is directed towards a PVC resin composition comprising polyvinyl chloride and a liquid plasticizer selected from the group consisting of: (i) a non-linear, paraffin-soluble olefin-CO copolymer; ii) a non-linear olefin-CO copolymer derived from non-pure feeds; iii) an olefin-CO&#x2014;X terpolymer derived from non-pure feeds; and iv) a non-linear olefin-CO&#x2014;X terpolymer. A method of preparing the resins is also described.

Polyvinyl chloride resins

A process for producing a diesel fuel stock from bitumen uses steam and a hydroisomerized diesel fraction produced by a gas conversion process, to respectively stimulate the bitumen production and increase the cetane number of a hydrotreated diesel fuel fraction produced by upgrading the bitumen, to form a diesel stock. The diesel stock is used for blending and forming diesel fuel.

The invention is directed towards a PVC resin composition comprising polyvinyl chloride and a plasticizer selected from the group consisting of: i) a non-linear, paraffin-soluble olefin-CO copolymer; ii) an olefin-CO-X terpolymer derived from non-pure feeds; iii) a non-linear olefin-CO copolymer derived from non-pure feeds; and iv) a non-linear CO-X copolymer; wherein X is selected from the group consisting of alpha-olefin, vinyl acetate, neo vinyl ester and mixtures thereof. The invention also provides a method for a preparing the PVC resin composition as well as a product formed using the PVC resin.

The invention relates to a method of forming carbon monoxide-containing polymers from multi-component syngas feeds and at least one vinyl comonomer. Feeds useful in the practice of the invention comprise ethylene in an amount ranging from about 5 to about 40 mole %, carbon monoxide is an amount ranging from about 1 to about 40 mole %, hydrogen in an amount ranging from about 4 to about 55 mole %, carbon dioxide in an amount ranging from about 3 to about 10 mole %, and methane in an amount ranging from about 4 to about 85 mole %. The feed may also include acetylene in an amount ranging up to about 10 mole %. The feed may contain at least one free radical-polymerizable vinyl comonomer, or a cofeed containing such a comonomer can be used.

Non-linear polymer product derived from dilute multi-component feeds

The invention is a method and catalyst for selectively and efficiently producing short chain linear &agr;-olefins. The method includes contacting olefinic monomers under oligomerization conditions with the catalyst composition which comprises a composition prepared in situ by reacting a nickel compound selected from the group consisting of halides, hydrides, triflates, acetates, borates, C , through C alkyl, C through C alkoxy, C through C cycloalkyl, C through C cycloalkoxy, aryl, thiolates, carbon monoxide, cyanate, olefins including diolefins and cycloolefins, and any other moiety into which a monomer can insert and mixtures thereof, with an amine ligand wherein said ligand is a nitrogen-containing ligand having one or more nitrogen atoms. The method also includes contacting olefinic monomers under oligomerization conditions with the catalyst composition wherein said catalyst has the formula LNi(X&prime;)(X) , wherein n equals 0 or 1; X and X&prime; are independently selected from the group consisting of halides, hydride, triflate, acetates, borates, C through C alkyl, C through C alkoxy, C through C cycloalkyl, C through C cycloalkoxy, aryl, thiolates, carbon monoxide, cyanate, olefins, and any other moiety into which a monomer can insert; M is selected from the group consisting of nickel, palladium, and platinum and L is a nitrogen-containing bidentate ligand with more than two nitrogen atoms.

The invention relates to a variety of uses for novel carbon monoxide containing polymers. More specifically, the invention employs the use of low molecular weight polymers containing carbon monoxide for use as adhesive additives and as fluids (e.g., solvents and synthetic base stocks).

A process for producing a diesel fuel stock from bitumen uses steam, naphtha and a hydroisomerized diesel fraction produced by a gas conversion process, to respectively (i) stimulate the bitumen production, (ii) dilute it for pipeline transport to an upgrading facility, and (iii) increase the cetane number of a hydrotreated diesel fuel fraction produced by upgrading the bitumen by blending it with the hydroisomerized gas conversion diesel fraction, to form the diesel stock. This diesel stock has a higher cetane number than that produced from the bitumen alone, and is used for blending and forming diesel fuel.

Process for producing a diesel fuel stock from bitumen and synthesis gas

An integrated gas conversion and bitumen production process utilizes steam and light hydrocarbons produced from a natural gas fed gas conversion process, to stimulate the bitumen production and dilute it for transportation by pipeline. Hydrogen for hydroconversion of the bitumen and hydroisomerization of gas conversion hydrocarbons may be produced from part of the synthesis gas generated from the natural gas. The bitumen diluent is preferably naphtha produced by the gas conversion and the diluted bitumen is pipelined to a bitumen upgrading facility.

The composition possesses a tetrahedral or pseudo-tetrahedral structure. The invention also provides a method for using the composition in conjunction with an activating cocatalyst to form short chain &agr;-olefins.
