A pyrolysis method and system are provided that enhances the production of alkanes and minimizes the production of aromatics in the resulting pyrolysis oil. More particularly, the disclosed pyrolysis method and system may be configured to enhance the production of alkanes due to the use of certain pyrolysis catalysts and more intense pyrolysis conditions.

Pyrolysis method and system for recycled waste

A composition having a recycle content value is obtained by reacting a recycle content feedstock to make a recycle content oxo alcohol or oxo plasticizer or by deducting from a recycle inventory a recycle content value applied to an oxo alcohol or oxo plasticizer composition. At least a portion of the recycle content value in the feedstock or in an allotment obtained by an oxo alcohol or oxo plasticizer manufacturer has its origin in recycled waste and/or pyrolysis of recycled waste and/or in thermal steam cracking of recycle content pyoil.

The presence of recycle content hydrocarbons may facilitate more efficient operation of one or more distillation columns in the separation zone, including the propylene fractionator.

A recycle content ethylene is fed to a reactor to make propionaldehyde having recycle content. The recycle ethylene feedstock is derived directly or indirectly from the cracking of recycle content pyrolysis oil. The r-olefin may then be further separated into product streams in a separation zone downstream of the cracker furnace. In some cases, presence of recycle content hydrocarbons may facilitate more efficient operation of one or more distillation columns in the separation zone, including the demethanizer.

Processes and systems for formation of recycle-content hydrocarbon compositions

Recycle content pyoil is cracked in a cracker furnace to make olefins and the coil outlet temperature of the r-pyoil fed coils can be lowered by adding r-pyoil to the cracker feedstock, or alternatively, the coil outlet temperature of the r-pyoil fed tubes can rise if the mass flow rates of the combined cracker stream containing r-pyoil are kept the same or lowered. Further, increasing the hydrocarbon mass flow rate by addition of r-pyoil can be achieved to also increase the output of ethylene and propylene in the cracker effluent. The cracker furnace can accept ethane and/or propane feedstocks in vapor form along with a liquid and/or vapor feed of r-pyoil.

Optimized cracker conditions to accept pyrolysis oil

Processes and facilities for producing recycled chemical products from waste plastic are described herein. The processes include treating process streams, such as a pyrolysis gas stream and/or at least a portion of a cracker furnace effluent stream, in a caustic scrubber process to remove certain components, such as carbon dioxide. The spent caustic solution from the caustic scrubber process is then recycled and reused in other caustic processes within the facility, which can include a halogen neutralization process from removing halogens from a liquification process off-gas.

Processes and systems for making recycle content hydrocarbons, including olefins, from recycled waste material. Recycle waste material may be pyrolyzed to form recycle content pyrolysis oil composition (r-pyoil), at least a portion of which may then be cracked to form a recycle content olefin composition (r-olefin). In some cases, a heavy fraction from the cracker effluent may be used to form a recycle content pyrolysis gasoline composition (r-pyrolysis gasoline).

A hydrocarbon cracker stream is combined with recycle content pyrolysis oil to form a combined cracker stream and the combined cracker stream is cracked in a cracker furnace to provide an olefin-containing effluent. The r-pyoil can be fed to the cracker feed. Alternatively, the r-pyoil with a predominantly c8+ fraction can be fed to the cracker feed. The furnace can be a gas fed furnace, or split cracker furnace.

Recycle content cracked effluent

A predominantly Cto Chydrocarbon cracker stream is combined with recycle content pyrolysis oil to form a combined cracker stream and the combined cracker stream is cracked in a cracker furnace to provide an olefin-containing effluent. The r-pyoil can be fed to a first coil while a second cracker feed with none of the r-pyoil or less of the r-pyoil is fed to a second coil, and both are cracked in a cracker furnace to form an olefin-containing effluent stream. Alternatively, the r-pyoil can be fed and distributed across multiple coils along with the non-recycle cracker feed. The furnace can be a gas fed furnace, or split cracker furnace. Further, a first cracker stream with r-pyoil in a first coil can have a lower total molar flow rate than a second cracker stream in a second coil in the same furnace.
