The present disclosure is directed toward providing visualization models of image characteristics. The visualization models can allow a user to intuitively understand and optionally edit or match characteristics. For example, one or more embodiments involve generating a visualization model of colors (including their hue and saturation) within a source image. Furthermore, one or more embodiments involve enabling a user to interact with and edit the visualization model of the source image. In one or more embodiments further involve generating a transformation model based on the visualization model of the source image. A target image can be altered in accordance with the transformation model such that characteristics of the source image are matched to the target image.

Providing visualizations of characteristics of an image

A method, system, and computer-readable storage medium are disclosed for interpretation of free-form timelines into compositing instructions. An array comprising a plurality of items is generated. Each of the plurality of items comprises one or more instructions representing one or more operations occurring at a point in time in a video sequence. For each one of a plurality of patterns, the array is scanned to determine if one or more groups of items in the array match the pattern. For each group of items matching one of the plurality of patterns, the matching group of items is replaced in the array with a merged item. Each merged item comprises an ordered sequence of the one or more instructions in the corresponding matching group of items. A frame of the video sequence is composited dependent on the array comprising the one or more merged items.

Interpretation of free-form timelines into compositing instructions

A method, system, and computer-readable storage medium are disclosed for automatically matching colors in stereoscopic image pairs. A stereoscopic image pair is converted from a first color space to a second color space, comprising mapping color values in the first color space to color values in the second color space. The second color space is more perceptually uniform than the first color space. A color-matched stereoscopic image pair is generated in the second color space, comprising applying a respective transformation for each of a plurality of luminance ranges in each image of the stereoscopic image pair. The transformations are applied to the color values in the second color space dependent upon a contribution of each of the color values to each of the luminance ranges. The color-matched stereoscopic image pair is converted from the second color space to the first color space.
