Implant includes elongated body with optional tubular inner layer forming orifice, shapeable to final orifice diameter for restricting blood flowing therethrough to chosen average flow rate; and/or tubular outer layer provided coaxially around inner layer. Outer layer is formed of second material provided in elastically deformable state for facilitating elastic radial self¬expanding from collapsed diameter up to relaxed maximal expanded diameter greater than diameter of inner wall portion of superior vena cava. Inner layer is formed of first material, in plastically or elastically deformable state.

Controlling rate of blood flow to right atrium

Disclosed are apparatus and method for forming passage extending along a plane crossing an organ's volumetric region from an entry point to an opposing exit point at a surface of the organ, and for passing a tension member around the volumetric region by pulling the tension member from the exit point to the entry point through the passage. The apparatus can include a rigid outer tube with a tip for penetrating the organ and reach a penetration depth; an inner needle with elastic body configured to pass straightened through outer tube lumen and to partially protrude and voluntarily flex to a curved form greater than the diameter of the volumetric region; and a tension member passer with a pulling portion for engaging with portion of tension member and for pulling the tension member when withdrawn.

Device and method for passing tension member around tissue mass

A split-tip catheter and methods for deploying a split-tip catheter in a right atrium are provided. The catheter is configured with a distal portion including a first and a second distal end regions elastically divergable from alignment along a splitting plane to regain a relaxed configuration. The first distal end region terminates in a first tip having a first forward opening, and the second distal end region terminates in a second tip having a second forward opening. Catheter deployment may include directing the first forward opening generally towards an anterior right atrium wall portion and applying the first forward opening to withdraw blood from the right atrium.

Deploying split-tip hemodialysis catheter in a right atrium

An intrauterine contraceptive system may include a contraceptive intrauterine device, a retrieval thread permanently attached to the intrauterine device and an insertion device for inserting the intrauterine device into a uterus. The system may also include a release thread releasably coupled with the intrauterine device. The intrauterine device may be deployable out of a distal end of the insertion device and may be configured to change from a delivery configuration when housed in the insertion device to a deployed configuration when deployed in a uterus. The retrieval thread and the optional release thread may be at least partially housed within the insertion device during insertion of the intrauterine device into the uterus. The release thread may extend from the intrauterine device through the insertion device to an attachment point at or near a proximal end of the insertion device.

An embolization microcatheter having an elongated microcatheter body configured for passing therein a suspension of particles suspended in a suspension fluid; and a microcatheter head connected to a distal end of said microcatheter body and comprising a proximal head section and a distal head section, wherein the proximal head section includes a proximal wall forming a proximal section lumen, the proximal wall having a plurality of through-holes, wherein the distal head section includes a distal wall forming a distal section lumen, and a suspension delivery opening at a distal end of the distal end section; wherein the distal section is devoid of through-holes, and wherein each of the plurality of through-holes are shaped and/or sized to allow passage therethrough of the suspension fluid while blocking passage of the particles suspended therein.

A hemodialysis catheter, a method for making, and a method of performing hemodialysis. The hemodialysis catheter includes an elongated body extending along a longitudinal axis, the elongated body including a first lumen and a second lumen. A first distal end region is formed extending from the elongated body, the first distal end region terminating in a first tip that defines an inner groove and an outer groove to form a corrugated first tip edge surrounding a first tip opening in fluid communication with the first lumen. A second distal end region is likewise formed. The second distal end region is separated from the first distal end region along a median plane. The first distal end region and the second distal end region are designed to diverge from the transverse plane at equal and directionally opposite angles without forming a gap along the median plane.

A vascular access wire is disclosed. The vascular access wire includes an elongated core member and a distal tip. The Distal tip comprising a crank configured with a crank distal surface and a crank center of rotation. The crank is configured to rotate about the crank center of rotation when the core member is sufficiently loaded axially and when the crank distal surface is pressed against a wall of a target blood vessel, for triggering or affecting a deflecting and/or a deforming of the core member proximally to the crank.

Implant body comprising a flow restricting portion enclosing a variable minimal internal diameter. Holding member is configured for restraining implant body to maintain the variable minimal internal diameter in a first minimal internal diameter, and to physically yield voluntarily after a first predetermined average duration of being continuously subjected to internal human body conditions, thereby releasing and allowing the implant body to elastically deform voluntarily such that the variable minimal internal diameter changes to a second minimal internal diameter, smaller than the first minimal internal diameter.

Gradually restricting vascular blood flow

Devices, methods and kits for preventing or reducing non-target microparticles deposition and embolization, in conjunction with delivering microparticles (e.g., embolization material) via a blood vessel to a target bodily part. Applicable for entrapping infiltrated microparticles within heart right atrium. Entrapping device includes: filter; and filter collapsing mechanism sized for positioning in catheter lumen of a filter delivering catheter, and having proximal end actuatable from outside of subject. Filter configured for positioning within heart right atrium, for self-expanding and covering right atrium inlet opening, and configured, when expanded, to collect embolic material delivered to target organ and infiltrated into outflow vessel thereof draining to right atrium. Filter collapsing mechanism configured for collapsing, and being manipulated to form a pocket in filter, to entrap collected embolic material therein, and drawing filter with collected embolic material in pocket, into catheter lumen of filter delivering catheter.

Preventing non-target embolization

A blood flow reducing assembly includes a catheter shaft and an expandable occlusion member assembled with the catheter shaft. The expandable occlusion member includes foldable protrusions. One or more manipulation members are connected to the foldable protrusions and operative to move the foldable protrusions closer to or further away from one other. Movement of the foldable protrusions modifies occlusion ability of the foldable protrusions.

Blood flow reducer for cardiovascular treatment

A method for promoting contraception by placing a contraceptive device within a uterus without blocking fallopian tubes may involve advancing a distal end of a delivery device through a cervix, advancing the contraceptive device comprising an elongate shape memory member out of the distal end of the delivery device and into the uterus, and limiting inferior migration of the contraceptive device within the uterus. Inferior migration may be limited by allowing the contraceptive device to assume a shape, when subjected to pressure that tends to cause a downward migration of the device within the uterus, in which an expandable middle portion of the device is expanded to contact the inner wall of the uterus and thus limit the downward migration of the device.

Intrauterine contraceptive device

An embolization microcatheter is configured to deliver embolization particles to a target area and minimize or prevent embolization of a non-target area. The microcatheter includes a section, located between the distal and proximal ends of the microcatheter, having a skeleton formed of braided wires and a polymeric layer intercalated into and/or overlaying the skeleton. This section includes a plurality of axial slits, each slit having a smallest cross-sectional dimension configured to prevent outflow of the embolization particles.

Removable catheter cap covers flexible medical tube (e.g., catheter) distal tip during delivery in a body lumen.
