A system and method for linking a medical device with a smart device is provided. The system includes a medical device, a smart device, a package encasing the medical device and an RFID device integrated into the packaging and associated with the medical device. The method for linking the medical device to a smart device includes removing the medical device from the packaging and applying it to a person, presenting the RFID device to the smart device, reading the RFID device with the smart device and using information obtained from the RFID device to establish communications between the smart device and the medical device.

The invention relates to a wireless communication device that is coupled to an energy source, such as a battery, capacitor, or solar cell. The wireless communication device is coupled to an antenna of the energy source for wireless communication. The antenna receives communication signals from an interrogation reader or other communication device. The wireless communication device may be attached to a device or container for purposes such as communicating information regarding identification, manufacturing, tracking, and the like. The wireless communication device may also be coupled to the energy source for power.

An RFID tag housing is disclosed. The housing can include a tag holder, which holds an RFID tag, and an attachment arrangement for attaching the housing to a receptacle. The attachment arrangement may also prevent rotation about a frame member of the receptacle to which the housing is attached. The housing can hold an RFID tag at a spacing above the receptacle's framework, allowing the tag to be read over the top of the receptacle and its contents, as well as other receptacles positioned nearby. This spacing can also allow use of the framework as a ground plane for the RFID tag antenna.

An optical disc has a security feature in the form of an RFID tag that communicates with a voltage controlled optical modifier layer in the optical disc. In the presence of an interrogation signal, the RFID tag allows the optical disc to be used normally by outputting a voltage to the optical modifier layer. In the absence of an interrogation signal, the optical modifier layer prevents a laser from reading from or writing on the optical disc. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

The invention relates to a wireless communication device that is coupled to an energy source, such as a battery, capacitor, or solar cell. The wireless communication device is coupled to a slot in the energy source to form a slot antenna for wireless communication. The slot antenna receives communication signals from an interrogation reader or other communication device. The wireless communication device may be attached to a device or container for purposes such as communicating information regarding identification, manufacturing, tracking, and the like. The wireless communication device may also be coupled to the energy source for power.

An identification device for identifying a container via wireless communication device. The wireless communication device is attached to an elongated, resilient member having a default shape. The member is resiliently deformable from the default shape to conform to at least a portion of the container and is attached by the resiliency of the member. The containers may move through at least one interrogation point containing an interrogation reader that establishes communication between the identification device and an interrogation reader for monitoring the container.

The present invention is directed to an identification device that is resiliently deformable between a first shape and a second, smaller shape. The second shape allows for inserting the mounting clip into a container opening. The mounting clip resiliently biases from the second shape to the first, larger shape for maintaining the mounting clip attached to the container. A wireless communication device is mounted to the mounting clip for identifying attributes of the container. The identification device may communicate with an interrogation reader for transferring information regarding the container and contents to a central control system.
