A statistical analysis package for a bowling center system provides displays used to analyze bowling ball trajectories. The bowling center system includes a central processing unit having a memory and connected to a ball trajectory unit. The ball trajectory unit generates information representing the trajectory of a bowling ball in a lane which is stored in the processing unit memory. The processing unit memory is operable in response to a user request for selecting trajectory information to develop statistical graphs illustrating historical tendencies at a select trajectory position for display on a monitor.

Bowling statistics display system

An overlay structure is provided for resurfacing a bowling lane. The structure includes a relatively thick homogeneous laminate sheet having a print layer to simulate the appearance of a wood bowling lane. A plurality of mechanical fasteners are positioned in respective recesses in the upper surface of the sheet and extending through the sheet for securement to the lane. Plugs are force fit into the recesses to hide the mechanical fasteners. The plugs are fabricated similarly to and have the same appearance as the print layer of the sheet.

Structure for resurfacing bowling lanes

An imaging processing system (10) for displaying a succession of selected separated images of a moving object (62, 64) moving in an otherwise substantially static scene includes an image sensor (12) for generating video signals of the static scene and for generating video signals of the static scene including the object (62, 64) moving therethrough. The video signals are generated over a plurality of frames (80-94). A first memory (104) stores the video signals of at least one of the plurality of frames from the static scene. A second memory (104) stores the video signals of the plurality of frames from the static scene including the object (62, 64) moving therethrough. Structure (106) is provided for comparing on a frame-by-frame basis the video signals stored in the first memory (104) with the video signals stored in the second memory (104) to thereby determine the presence of the object (62, 64) in each of the plurality of frames (80-90). A display (18) illustrates the location of the object (62, 64) in each of the plurality of frames (80-).

Video tracking and display system

A method of playing a bowling game in which players are allowed at least one ball to knock down pins in each of a plurality of frames. A handicap is determined for each player of the game. A handicap pin setup is selected for each player for each frame commensurate with the respective player's handicap. Each player is required to deliver at least one ball in each frame. The number of pins knocked down by each player in each frame is counted to determine a score for each player for each frame. Each player's frame score is recorded as determined by the counting, and each player's frame scores are added to determine the player's total score for the game. The players' game scores are compared to determine the winner of the game.

Method of playing a bowling game

A method of playing a bowling game in which players are allowed at least one ball to knock down all pins in a plurality of frames defined by selecting a plurality of differing pin setups of less than ten pins in a random sequence. The number of pins less then ten that were not set for a respective frame is recorded for each player for each frame. The number of pins knocked down by each player in each frame is counted. The number of pins not set in a given frame is added to the frame score of the previous frame if all the pins were knocked down in the previous frame, but only the number of pins knocked down in the previous frame if all the pins were not knocked down in the previous frame. This frame score is recorded for each player, and each player's frame scores are added to determine the player's total score for the game. The players' game scores are compared to determine the winner of the game.

A method of playing a bowling game in which players are allowed a preselected number of balls to knock down all pins in each of a plurality of frames. Each player is required to deliver at least one ball in each of the frames. The number of pins knocked down by each player in each frame is counted, with strikes recorded for all pins being knocked down by a first ball and spares recorded for all pins being knocked by a second ball. A player is allowed to change the pin setup after delivering the first ball and before delivering the second ball. The player's changed pin setup can be randomly selected. Thereafter, the frame scores and game scores are determined as in a conventional bowling game.

A bowling lane construction adapted for placement on a foundation including an elongated bowling lane and a plurality of supports for the lane, each adapted to be disposed on a foundation for functional engagement with the lower surface of the lane. The supports are generally parallel, spaced along the length of the lane and generally transverse to the direction of elongation thereof. Each such support is formed of a truss having spaced upper and lower chords and at least two vertical braces extending between the chords and at least two elongated tie braces extending diagonally between the chords.

Wooden truss foundation for bowling lanes

A display device is mounted to bridge at least one bowling lane, with the support braces of a support for a frame of a panel masking unit being affixed on either side of the lane or lanes. In one embodiment, at least two panel masking units are mounted to bridge adjacent lanes, with one support brace serving as a common support for the two adjacent panel masking units. The frames are mounted on the supports for pivotal movement between a vertical and a horizontal position, with the center of gravity for each frame being close to, above and forward of the pivot mounting so as to provide easy pivoting with two stable positions, against the vertical or horizontal stops. The panels are removable, reversible and easily changed to change the design or message intended to be conveyed by the display device.
