Systems and methods for testing downhole power cables wherein such systems and methods utilize a mounting bracket having a PEEK insulator extending from a first face of said bracket and at least one flexible lead extending from a second face of said bracket. Such systems and methods may accommodate three such flexible leads that are configured to interface with power cables. A shunting block may be incorporated in a protective cap configured to fit over the PEEK insulator extension from said first face of said bracket.

Systems and methods for testing electrical properties of a downhole power cable

An apparatus for providing electrical power through a downhole packer comprises a riser nipple engagingly insertable in a passage in the packer; a sleeve surrounding a portion of the riser nipple and slidingly moveable between a cable assembly position and an operational position enabling connection of a cable extending through the packer and the sleeve to an electrical connector; and a retaining nut engageable with the riser nipple capturing the sleeve in the operational position when the retaining nut is engaged with the riser nipple.

Apparatus and method for electrical packer feedthrough

A connector comprises an adapter housing coupled to a connector housing. An adapter insert has a first cavity formed therein. The first cavity is shaped to at least partially restrain motion in a first lateral axis of a flat cable placed therein. An elastomer spring element is disposed in a second cavity in the adapter insert. The elastomer spring element imparts a squeeze on the flat cable at least partially restraining motion of the flat cable in a second lateral axis substantially orthogonal to the first lateral axis.

Apparatus and method for electrical connector with flat cable adapter

A connector comprises a housing having a seal element located within the housing. The seal element has an axial passage therethrough. A plurality of circumferential sealing lips are spaced apart along the axial passage and sized such that each of the plurality of circumferential sealing lips provides a compression seal along a cable element inserted through the axial passage. A seal for an electrical connector comprises an elastomer seal element having an axial passage therethrough. Apparatus and method for sealing an electrical connector

An apparatus for engaging an electrical conductor comprises a gripping contact having a plurality of fingers, where the plurality of fingers has a substantially conical outer surface. A contact receptacle has a substantially conical inner surface. A tension member urges the gripping contact toward the contact receptacle such that interaction between the substantially conical outer surface and the substantially conical inner surface forces the plurality of fingers to engagingly compress the electrical conductor placed between the fingers. A method of engaging an electrical conductor comprises inserting an electrical conductor between a plurality of fingers of a gripping contact, where the plurality of fingers has a substantially conical outer surface. The substantially conical outer surface of the gripping contact is urged to interact with a substantially conical inner surface of a contact receptacle such that the interaction forces the plurality of fingers to engage the electrical conductor.

Apparatus and method for electrical and mechanical connection

A connector comprises a substantially cylindrical housing having an internal circumferential groove therein. A seal element is disposed within the housing, the seal element having an axial passage therethrough. A plurality of circumferential sealing lips are spaced apart along the axial passage and sized such that each of the plurality of circumferential sealing lips provides a compression seal along a cable element inserted through the axial passage. A follower abuts the seal element. A spring is disposed in the groove acting against the follower and forcing the follower against the seal to maintain a fluid seal on the cable element.
