In a wireless communication network, base stations exchange user data for a communication service between User Equipment (UE) and wireless network gateways. The network gateways exchange the user data with Internet Protocol (IP) routers. One of the gateways receives a Border Control Protocol (BGP) message from one of the IP routers indicating a performance issue with an IP address. The network gateway associates the IP address with the communication service and transfers signaling indicating a service issue. A management computer receives the signaling and transfers signaling to the base stations to shed the one gateway for the communication service. The base stations then exchange the user data for the communication service between the UEs and the wireless network gateways except for the one gateway. These other gateways exchange the user data for the communication service with the IP routers except for the IP router having the issue.

Wireless communication control based on border gateway protocol

A computer system establishes data communications for a virtual machine that is configured with an enhanced Media Access Control (MAC) address. A management computer instantiates the virtual machine responsive to the enhanced MAC address. The management computer automatically instantiates a virtual Local Area Network (vLAN) and a virtual Switch (vSW) on the vLAN to serve the virtual machine using the enhanced MAC address. The management computer allocates an Internet Protocol (IP) address to the virtual machine and automatically instantiates a virtual Router (vRTR) to serve the vSW using the IP address. A network computer executes the virtual machine, the vLAN, the vSW, and the vRTR to exchange user data between the virtual machine and a data communication network over the vSW, vLAN, and vRTR using the enhanced MAC address and the IP address.

Automatically generated virtual network elements for virtualized packet networks

Examples disclosed herein provide systems, methods, and software to control wireless communication device traffic based on border gateway protocol. In one example, a method of operating a Long Term Evolution (LTE) gateway includes receiving a border gateway protocol message transferred by an Internet Protocol (IP) router and processing the border gateway protocol message to determine a LTE network condition. The method further includes processing the LTE network condition to determine LTE signaling, wherein the LTE signaling indicates a mobility management entity instruction indicating a mobility management entity action and a LTE service, and transferring the LTE signaling.

Systems, methods, and software for providing a virtualized communication networking environment are provided herein. In one example, a method includes identifying a media access control address for a network interface of a virtual machine, the media access control address comprising at least one communication network indicator associated with a virtualized local area network. If a virtual network element has not been generated for handling traffic associated with the network interface of the virtual machine, then generating the virtual network element and associating the virtual network element with the virtualized local area network based on the communication network indicator. When the virtual network element has been generated, then assigning the network interface of the virtual machine to the virtual network element associated with the virtualized local area network based on the communication network indicator of the media access control address.

Automatically generated virtual network elements for virtualized local area networks

Systems, methods, and software for providing a virtualized communication networking environment are provided herein. In one example, a method includes identifying an Internet Protocol (IP) address for a network interface of a virtual machine based on at least a communication network indicator in a MAC address associated with the network interface of the virtual machine. If the virtual network element has not been generated for handling IP traffic associated with the network interface of the virtual machine, then generating the virtual network element and associating the virtual network element with the network interface of the virtual machine based on at least the communication network indicator in the MAC address. When the virtual network element has been generated, then configuring the virtual network element for the IP traffic associated with the network interface of the virtual machine based at least the communication network indicator in the MAC address.

Examples disclosed herein provide systems, methods, and software to control wireless communication policies and rules based on congestion. In one example, a method of operating a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network includes, in a LTE base station, identifying congestion data for one or more communicating wireless communication devices, and identifying that the congestion data meets a congestion criteria. The method further includes, in the LTE base station and responsive to meeting the congestion criteria, setting an explicit congestion notification (ECN) flag for a wireless communication device communication, and transferring the ECN flag for delivery to a LTE gateway. The method further provides, in the LTE gateway, receiving the ECN flag, and identifying a congestion policy for at least one wireless communication device communicating with the LTE base station.

A Long Term Evolution (LTE) network management system processes and displays Internet Protocol (IP) usage data between LTE network elements. A routing system exchanges IP packets between the LTE network elements using Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) modules. The routing system generates usage data associating individual ones on the VRF modules with amounts of IP packets exchanged between the LTE network elements. A network control system processes the usage data to determine the amounts of the IP packets exchanged between the LTE network elements for each of the individual VRF modules. The network control system graphically displays the amounts of IP packets exchanged between the LTE network elements for each of the individual VRF modules.

Long term evolution (LTE) network management system to process and display internet protocol usage data

Systems and methods are described for determining latency in a communication network. A non-IP protocol physical interface may be implemented at an access node. The physical interface may be configured to receive a simulated wireless device that mimics a radio-frequency interface. Delay data associated with segmented portions of a backhaul of the communication network may be measured at a base band unit (BBU) of the access node using the simulated wireless device. At least one segment of the backhaul may be isolated based on the measured delay data associated with the segmented portions.

Methods and systems for testing latency in a wireless communication network

A wireless mesh network is configured. Each node is configured to function as either a gateway node or a relay node. To configure itself as a gateway node, an access node selects an SSID for each of its wireless interfaces that indicates it is an access node. When a relay access node is configuring itself, it scans for the SSIDs of available networks. The SSIDs of the mesh network are selected to indicate the number of other access points between a given access node and a direct wired connection (which is zero in the case of a gateway node.) The relay access node connects to the network having an SSID that indicates the fewest number of hops between itself and a direct wired connection. The SSID that is broadcast by the relay access node indicates the number of other access points between itself and a direct wired connection.

A method of transcoding web images. The method comprises determining a mean opinion score (MoS) for a test source digital image, transcoding the test source digital image to a test derived digital image, and determining a MoS for the test derived digital image presented on a standard display. The method further comprises receiving a source digital image by a server computer, where the source digital image is requested by a device for presentation on a target display, transcoding the source digital image to a derived digital image by a transcoding application executed by the server computer, determining an estimated MoS for the derived digital image based on the MoS for the test source digital image, based on the MoS for the test derived digital image, and based on differences between the standard display and the target display, and changing a parameter of the transcoding application based on the estimated MoS.

A method, system, and medium are provided for locating an optimal security gateway. A default gateway receives a request to access a macrocell. The default security gateway obtains a current location for each macrocell in response to a security gateway discovery function. Based on the response, routes to a best security gateway for each macrocell are determined. A best security gateway is identified based on factors that include the distance from a picocell connected to the default security gateway having backhaul traffic to offload to the appropriate macrocells connected to the best security gateway.

In one example, a method of operating a communication system to configure Ethernet elements includes, in a request Ethernet element, determining identification data based on a media access control (MAC) address and a virtual local area network (VLAN) for the requesting Ethernet element. The method further provides, in the requesting Ethernet element, transferring, via Ethernet Local Management Interface (E-LMI), the identification data to a receiving Ethernet element. The method also includes, in the receiving Ethernet element, receiving the identification information, transferring a service configuration request based on the identification information to a configuration management system, and receiving a service configuration from the configuration management system.
