Oral care compositions

The disclosure contains a method of quantifying and/or evaluating metal ions in a dentifrice, wherein the method comprises subjecting the dentifrice to X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), and wherein the XAS is used to measure and/or evaluate the metal ions in the dentifrice. Also disclosed are methods of selecting and screening for dentifrices based upon the evaluation and quantification of their metal ion content.

An oral care evaluation system may include: a light source configured to emit a spectrum of light which induces fluorescence in an organic compound, the light source illuminating soft oral tissue within an oral cavity; an image sensor receiving light generated by fluorescence of the organic compound on the soft oral tissue, the image sensor generating image data for an image of the oral tissue, the image comprising a plurality of pixels; and an image processor receiving the image data from the image sensor and programmed to evaluate oral hygiene of the soft oral tissue by assessing an attribute of each pixel in the image.

The disclosure provides an improved synthesis for a zinc-lysine complex having the formula [Zn(CHNO)Cl]Cl, in which a zinc compound selected from ZnO and ZnCl, is reacted with a lysine compound selected from lysine and lysine.HCl, in aqueous acid. Method of making an anhydrous liquid antiperspirant composition

An anhydrous liquid antiperspirant/deodorant composition comprising a carrier comprising a cation and/or zwitterion and a hydrogen bond donor, wherein an amount of carrier is greater than an amount of any other material in the composition, and an antiperspirant active. This represents a new delivery form for antiperspirant actives and/or deodorant actives.

An aqueous antiperspirant/deodorant composition comprising: (a) at least one active chosen from an antiperspirant active and a deodorant active, (b) a mixture comprising at least one basic compound chosen from a basic amide and a basic amine and a counterpart material for the basic amide and/or basic amine, and (c) at least 10 weight % water. Also, a method of manufacturing the composition.
