A lock nut is useable for setting a bearing to preload or endplay. A plurality of preload markings are circumferentially spaced apart on the nut. The distance between the preload marking corresponding to a preselected amount of preload applied or reduced on said bearing when the nut is (i) tightened to apply a preload force to said bearing or (ii) loosened to reduce a preload force on said bearing, respectively. A plurality of endplay markings are also circumferentially spaced apart on the nut. The distance between the endplay markings, corresponding to a preselected amount of endplay increased or reduced in said bearing when the nut is (i) tightened to reduce endplay on the bearing or (ii) loosened to increase endplay in said bearing. The use of endplay and preload markings enables setting of a bearing on an axle or spindle to either an endplay setting or a preload setting by adjusting the rotation of the lock nut according to the endplay markings or the preload markings, respectively.

A bedside grab bar or post for better enabling infirm persons to get into and out of a bed without assistance. The grab bar is in the shape of an inverted U including two vertical legs removably attachable to a bed side rail. The grab bar may be disposed along the length of the bed at an adjustable distance from the head of the bed to accommodate the user of the bed and has a relatively small width, thereby leaving ample space for movement onto and off the bed in the open space between the grab bar and the bottom end of the bed and without movement of the grab bar.

A drain unclogging and clearing apparatus providing an elongated rigid tube having a constricting nozzle at one end capable of increasing the velocity of water flowing through the tube and ejecting such water in a jet, the nozzle being surrounded by a flared resilient splash guard. The opposite end of the tube is provided with a quick acting manually controlled ball plug valve connected to a supply hose which, in turn, is connectable to either a male or female threaded faucet. An oval ring-shaped handle is adjustably mounted on the tube approximately one-third of the length of the tube from the valve and is provided with studs for carrying male and female hose adapters.
