An apparatus and method for cleaning carcasses is described and illustrated, as is a device for mixing a cleaning substance that can be used in such applications. In some embodiments, the apparatus and method utilize a multi-phase cleaning substance spraying procedure in which the cleaning substance has desired levels of chlorine dioxide and is delivered to the carcasses at desired flow rates, both of which can vary between phases of the procedure and/or at different locations of the carcasses being cleaned.

Disclosed is a method of making a non-aqueous chlorine dioxide solution by combining a chlorite salt and a non-aqueous carboxylic acid and the non-aqueous chlorine dioxide solution made by this method. A composition for a cleaning-in-place system is described. The composition has a halogen dioxide and a optionally hydroxide and does not require the use of a detergent to display excellent cleaning and disinfecting properties on processing equipment such as the equipment found in breweries, dairy plants and carbonated beverage plants.

Cleaning-in-place composition and method for using the same

An all-in-one cooling water treatment composition includes a high concentration of peroxide, preferably hydrogen peroxide, in combination with a polyhydric alcohol and a phosphonate to stabilize the peroxide in a concentrated solution. The composition further includes a yellow metal corrosion inhibitor such as aromatic triazole and optionally polymeric dispersants and ferrous metal corrosion inhibitors and/or molybdate metal corrosion inhibitors. In this composition the phosphonate, preferably HEDP, acts both to stabilize the peroxide and, at the same time, provides anti-scalant treatment for the cooling tower. Due to the stability provided by the HEDP and its anti-scalant properties, this can be formulated as an all-in-one treatment composition which is stable at high concentrations and can be added to effectively control biocidal activity, scale and corrosion.
