An apparatus includes a housing having a gas flow generator for generating a flow of breathing gas and a humidifier disposed therein having a chamber for housing a volume of water. The chamber has a top opening for providing the volume of water therein. The apparatus further includes a lid coupled to the housing that is movable between a first position wherein the lid covers the top opening and a second position wherein the lid does not cover the top opening. The apparatus also includes a passage which extends from a first end positioned and structured to receive the flow of breathing gas from the gas flow generator to an opposite second end positioned on the lid and structured to expel the flow of breathing gas into the chamber. An outlet for conveying the flow of breathing gas from the chamber out of the housing is positioned on the housing.

Humidifier with ingress protection for use in CPAP therapy

A system is configured to prevent damage from liquid spills in a humidified pressure support therapy device. The system includes a decoupler configured to decouple a humidification chamber in a humidifier from a pressure generator of the pressure support therapy device in response to a cover of the humidifier being opened. This eliminates and/or reduces the possibility of liquid in an overfilled humidification chamber unintentionally and/or otherwise entering the pressure generator and damaging sensitive mechanical and/or electrical components. In some embodiments, the system includes one or more of a pressure generator, a humidifier, a subject interface, a sensor, the decoupler, a processor, electronic storage, a user interface, and/or other components.

Liquid chamber decoupling system and method

A pressure support system that comprises a patient circuit, a docking assembly, and a tank. The patient circuit delivers a pressurized flow of breathable gas to a patient. The docking assembly has an inlet and an outlet that is adapted to receive the pressurized flow of breathable gas, and is also adapted to be connected with the patient circuit. The tank is constructed and arranged to be removably connected with the docking assembly, and enables the pressurized flow of breathable gas to pass therethrough. The tank is also adapted to contain a liquid such that a humidity level of the pressurized flow of breathable gas is elevated as the pressurized flow of breathable gas passes therethrough.

A gas delivery system comprising an external housing, a flow generator, and a vibration damper body. The flow generator is disposed in the external housing, and has a flow generator housing with a peripheral surface and a lower surface. The vibration damper body is disposed within the external housing and is formed of one or more compliant materials that are shaped to be complementary to the peripheral surface of the flow generator housing so as to engage the peripheral surface of the flow generator housing. The vibration damper body has a lower surface attached to a bottom surface of the external housing, and also has a peripheral surface formed such that at least one air gap is created between at least a portion of the vibration damper body and the external housing.

A gas monitoring system that comprises a sensor, a first valve, and a second valve. The sensor is disposed within a sensor housing that has an inlet and an outlet. The sensor generates a signal based on a characteristic of a gas within the housing. The first valve is disposed at the inlet. The second valve is disposed at the outlet. The first valve and the second valve open and close based on an orientation of the sensor housing.
