A prosthetic heart valve can include an outer support assembly, an inner valve assembly, which define between them an annular space, and a pocket closure that bounds the annular space to form a pocket in which thrombus can be formed and retained. Alternatively, or additionally, the outer support assembly and the inner valve assembly can be coupled at the ventricle ends of the outer support assembly and the inner valve assembly, with the outer support assembly being relatively more compliant in hoop compression in a central, annulus portion than at the ventricle end, so that the prosthetic valve can seat securely in the annulus while imposing minimal loads on the inner valve assembly that could degrade the performance of the valve leaflets.

Thrombus management and structural compliance features for prosthetic heart valves

A prosthetic heart valve can include an outer frame coupled to an inner frame such that the outer frame can be moved between a first position and a second position in which the outer frame is inverted relative to the inner frame. The inner frame and the outer frame define between them an annular space, and a pocket closure can bound the annular space to form a pocket in which thrombus can form and be retained. The pocket closure can include a stretchable pocket covering that can move from a first position in which the pocket covering has a first length when the outer frame is in the first position relative to the inner frame and a second position in which the pocket covering has a second length greater than the first length when the outer frame is in the second position relative to the inner frame.

Atrial pocket closures for prosthetic heart valves

Prosthetic heart valves are described herein that can provide clearance to the left ventricle outflow tract (LVOT), reduce the possibility of undesirable outflow gradients, and/or limit or prevent LVOT obstructions when implanted in the heart. In some embodiments, a prosthetic heart valve can include an outer frame having a cuff portion that is disposed at an angle (e.g., 80 degrees) relative to the vertical axis of a body portion of the outer frame, so that the prosthetic valve can seat securely in the annulus while not obstructing the ventricular outflow tract of the heart. In some embodiments, a prosthetic heart valve can alternatively, or additionally, include subvalvular components having a short profile, such that the prosthetic valve can seat securely in the annulus while not obstructing the ventricular outflow tract of the heart.

Systems for and methods of conditioning loosefill insulation material

A loosefill insulation installation includes a loosefill insulation material made from fiberglass fibers. The loosefill insulation material unexpectedly has improved thermal performance, even though the amount of mineral oil applied to the fiberglass fibers is reduced. For example, the fiberglass fibers can be coated with a mineral oil in an amount that is between 0.1% and 0.6% of the weight of the fiberglass fibers, such as about 0.375%.

Unbonded loosefill insulation

Apparatus and methods are described herein for use in the transvascular delivery and deployment of a prosthetic mitral valve. In some embodiments, a method includes inverting an outer frame of a prosthetic mitral valve when the valve is in a biased expanded configuration. After inverting the outer frame, the prosthetic mitral valve is inserted into a lumen of a delivery sheath such that the mitral valve is moved to a collapsed configuration. The distal end portion of the delivery sheath is inserted into a left atrium of a heart. The prosthetic mitral valve is moved distally out of the delivery sheath such that the inverted outer frame reverts and the prosthetic mitral valve assumes its biased expanded configuration. In some embodiments, actuation wires are used to assist in the reversion of the outer frame. The prosthetic mitral valve is then positioned within a mitral annulus of the heart.

Prosthetic mitral valves and apparatus and methods for delivery of same

A mouth guard includes a pair of spaced-apart molar receiving members with an inner wall extending therebetween. The inner wall is configured for insertion between a user's lips and teeth. An outer wall is configured to confront an exterior surface of the user's lips. A conduit extends between the inner and outer walls and includes a passage formed therethrough. The passage extends through the inner wall between the molar receiving members and extends through the outer wall whereby a user may breathe or drink through the passage.

An improved unbonded loosefill insulation material having a multiplicity of tufts and a plurality of voids between the tufts is provided. The tufts have an average major tuft dimension. The average major tuft dimension of the tufts of the improved unbonded loosefill insulation material is shorter than an average major tuft dimension of tufts of conventional unbonded loosefill insulation material, thereby providing the improved unbonded loosefill insulation material with a higher insulative value than conventional unbonded loosefill insulation material.

A thermal resistance (R) per inch of installed loosefill insulation material is between 3.1 and 3.9 R per inch. The average density of the installed loosefill insulation material is between 0.6 and 1.0 pounds per cubic foot.
