A flexible pipe system includes an unbonded flexible pipe connected to a floating vessel and a sensor system with an optical fibre integrated in the unbonded flexible pipe. Interrogating equipment transmits optical signals into the fibre, receives optical signals reflected from the fibre and detects a parameter of the unbonded flexible pipe. A turret connects the flexible pipe rotationally to the floating vessel via a swivel device that provides a fluid transfer passage between the turret and the vessel. The interrogating equipment is arranged on the turret and is further configured to transfer signals indicative of the detected parameter to receiving equipment on the floating vessel. In this way, optical signals reflected from the fibre can reach the interrogating equipment without distortion in the swivel, so that parameters can be detected with sufficient quality also for floating vessels equipped with a turret mooring system.

The present invention relates to a method of testing an unbonded flexible pipe. The unbonded flexible pipe has a length and a longitudinal axis and comprises, from the inside and out, an internal armour layer, an internal pressure sheath, at least one external amour layer and an outer sheath. At least one of the layers comprises an optical sensor connected to an optical monitoring system and at least one of the armour layers is a metallic and electrically conductive amour layer. The method makes it possible to test an electrical heating system and an optical sensor substantially simultaneously.

A portable medical device for communication of medical data information has a medical device part that includes a first processor and first storage means, and means for executing one or more medical related functions, a communication device part comprising a second processor, second storage means, and communication means. The invention relates to a support for a medication holding cartridge provided with one or more electronically readable information carrying areas. The invention further relates to a support for a medication holding cartridge which provides one or more electrically connecting supports, each comprising a number of closely spaced mutually electrically insulated conductors embedded in an electrically insulating material that stretches from one of the supporting surfaces of the cartridge to a contact area for receiving and transferring the information, when the medication holding cartridge is positioned in the support. The present invention can securely transfer information with an increased density from a medication holding cartridge to an electronic circuit and may be customized to a variety of physical designs. The invention may be used for example in connection with replaceable medication cartridges for medication delivery devices and with other cartridges from which an item of information is to be electronically transferred.
