A swing control assembly for a first machine is provided. The swing control assembly includes a position detection module configured to generate a signal indicative of a relative position of a second machine with respect to the first machine. The swing control assembly includes a controller communicably coupled to the position detection module. The controller is configured to receive the signal indicative of the relative position of the second machine with respect to the first machine. The controller is configured to determine a direction of swing associated with the first machine based on the received signal. The controller is configured to provide an instruction to initiate a swing operation of the first machine based on the determined direction of swing.

System and method for swing control

An excavation system is disclosed for use with an excavation machine having a work tool and with an IPCC. The excavation system may have a location device configured to generate a first signal indicative of a location of the excavation machine, a display, and at least one controller in communication with the location device and the display. The controller may be configured to receive a second signal indicative of a location of the IPCC, and to cause representations of the excavation machine and the IPCC to be simultaneously shown on the display based on the first and second signals. The at least one controller may also be configured to determine a swing radius of the work tool, and to selectively cause an indication of alignment between the IPCC and the swing radius to be shown on the display based on the first signal, the second signal, and the swing radius.

Excavation system having inter-machine monitoring and control

A mining machine such as a mining shovel includes a digging assembly having an upward extending boom and a dipper assembly generally horizontally supported by the boom and configured to crowd toward and retract from a vertical bank at a mine site. To determine if the dipper assembly strikes the bank, an electronic controller can calculate a calculated crowd force based in part on a crowd motor torque associated with a crowd motor, a crowd speed of the dipper assembly, and an inertia parameter. If the calculated crowd force exceeds a predetermined first crowd threshold, the electronic controller can register an impact event. In further aspects, the electronic controller can execute a force modification function to modify the crowding forces and a speed reduction function to reduce the crowd speed.

Control system for mining machine

A system for setting a dump height of a material engaging work implement above a dump body includes a rotatable implement system, an implement system pose sensor, and a bed height sensor. A controller determines an initial bed height, determines an initial dump height, generates a command based upon the pose of the work implement, and determines a subsequent dump height higher than the initial dump height. The controller is further configured to position the work implement at the subsequent dump height, determine a further subsequent dump height higher than the subsequent dump height, and position the work implement at the further subsequent dump height over the dump body.
