An electronic assembly comprises a printed circuit board that has an electronic component that is attached mechanically and electrically to the printed circuit board by soldering. A plastic header connector covers the electronic component and provides a socket for the electronic component when the plastic header connector is attached to the printed circuit board solely by portions of the plastic header connector.

Electronic assembly and method of making same

A communication port is susceptible to contaminates such as dirt, dust, and moisture if not properly protected. A communication port that automatically protects against contaminates includes a housing defining an opening and configured to receive a device connector. A face plate is disposed on the housing. The face plate defines a window generally aligned with the opening. A door is slideably disposed on the housing and biased toward a position covering the opening and the window. Exerting a force on the door exposes the opening and the window.

Communication port

An electrical jack cable assembly includes a jack cable connector and an adaptor coupling for attaching the connector to a support. The adaptor coupling has a face plate and a tray that extends to a rear wall. The connector body is retained in the tray behind the abutment wall so that the rear wall resists any movement of the connector body with respect to the adaptor coupling in the plug-in direction. The jack cable assembly is made by providing a jack cable connector providing an adaptor coupling having a tray that extends rearwardly to a rear wall and assembling the connector body to the tray by slanting the connector body and inserting the slanted connector body into the tray until it passes over the rear wall of the tray. The rear end of the connector body is then pushed down for retaining the connector body firmly and positively in the tray.

Jack cable assembly with support tray and method of making same

A pass-thru electrical connector assembly is an integral part of a barrier wall which separates a harsh environment from a controlled environment. A connector body having a staged position and a locked position on the barrier wall has a flange which extends radially outward from one end of an axial projecting portion. Via rotation of the connector body from the staged position to the locked position, the projecting portion of the connector body moves axially forward through a hole of the barrier wall as a ring seal is preferably axially compressed between the flange and one side of the barrier wall. Axial movement of the connector body is achieved via a plurality of locking lugs which protrude radially outward from and are spaced circumferentially about the projecting portion of the connector body. The lugs are aligned circumferentially with a plurality of slots spaced about and communicating with the hole of the barrier wall when the connector body is in the staged position. When the connector body rotates from the staged position to the locked position, the lugs become misaligned to the slots. Simultaneously, a flex lock cantilevered from the projecting portion and disposed between two of the locking lugs snaps radially outward into one of the slots to lock the connector body to the barrier wall.

Pass-thru electrical connector assembly

An electrical connector for use in an SIR system comprises a connector housing which has a plug portion with a filter cavity disposed therein. A filter element which has a pair of longitudinally disposed receptacles is disposed within the filter cavity. The connector also has a pair of terminals each of which has a barrel portion that is disposed within each of the receptacles within the filter element and a perpendicular crimp portion. A retaining cap which has a connector position assurance portion (CPA) and a cover portion connected by a pair of flexible straps is fastened to the connector housing to align and retain the terminals within the connector housing. The terminals have a U-shaped transition area that allows for a smaller terminal.

Low profile SIR connector and terminal

An electrical connection system for interfacing with an end portion of a strut rod, wherein the electrical connection therebetween is sealed against environmental degradation and is unaffected by vehicular vibration, and wherein the electrical connection system is easily installed and easily serviced. A connector includes a connector shell having an upper end and an opposite lower end; an insert which carries a ground terminal and a power terminal within the connector shell; a lock ring which interfaces connectably with the connector shell to provide anchorage with the end portion of the strut rod; and seals at the upper and lower ends of the connector shell. The ground terminal connects with a ground cable and resiliently clips onto a smooth section of the end portion of the strut rod, wherein the strut rod serves as the ground conduit. The power terminal is connected with a power cable and abuts a pin axially resident in the strut rod. In order to assure proper seating of the terminals with respect to the strut rod, the lock ring is inhibited from rotating with respect to the connector shell unless it has been sufficiently placed over the strut rod. Connector position assurance (CPA) is provided by a CPA member which snappingly engages the connector shell and the lock ring only when they are correctly interfaced with each other and thereupon prevents rotation relative to each other.

Electrical connection system for a selectably adjustable ride strut

A damper and electrical connector system wherein the damper includes a ring mounting element having a base portion attached to a housing of the damper and a hole extending through the base portion and communicating with an interior chamber of the housing. A slot is formed through a side of the ring mounting element and communicates with the hole in the base. The electrical connector includes an end inserted through the slot and a power terminal extends through the hole formed in the base and makes electrical connection with an element requiring electrical power that is carried in the housing. Preferably the electrical connector also includes a ground terminal which makes electrical contact with the ring mounting element. A vehicle mounting rod is inserted through the ring mount to hold the connector in place.
