A doctor-type ink fountain includes a rear wall and a row of flow profiles provided along the rear wall. The flow profiles are obliquely aligned at an acute angle relative to an axis of rotation of a screen roller interacting with the doctor-type ink fountain. A printing press having the doctor-type ink fountain is also provided.

A printing press includes an anilox printing unit having a screen roller and a feed blade as components, in which ink accumulates on an outer side of the feed blade during printing. A method for operating the anilox printing unit includes removing the accumulated ink from the feed blade by moving one of the two components relative to the other of the two components in a first direction in a first step, causing the accumulated ink to be flattened by the feed blade and to be spread onto the screen roller. The component that was moved in the first direction in the first step may be moved in an opposite, second direction in a second step, causing the accumulated ink to be scraped off the screen roller by the feed blade.

A sheet brake system for braking printed sheets includes a plurality of brake elements each circulating about at least one respective geometric revolution axis, and a common drive roll for driving the brake elements. The drive roll circulates about a geometric roll axis and is connected in drive terms to each brake element through a frictional contact of the drive roll. The roll axis is disposed offset eccentrically relative to the at least one revolution axis of each brake element. The brake elements can, for example, be brake bands. An apparatus for transporting a printing material sheet includes a holding crossmember for holding the printing material sheet and a traveling-wave motor for driving the holding crossmember. The traveling-wave motor has a first traveler and a second traveler for mounting the holding crossmember. The holding crossmember is mounted through a spring suspension. The spring suspension can be, for example, a flexible joint in the form of a flexible bellows.

A method for controlling elements for guiding sheet material and for controlling a surface for holding a sheet pile, which comprises registering, by a first sensor element, a lateral position of the sheet material and, based thereon, moving the surface for holding the sheet pile in a lateral direction, and controlling, via a sensor element for sensing a side edge of the sheet pile, independently of a first guide element, the lateral position of a further guide element, which is disposed on a side of the sheet pile, which is opposite to an aligning member for laterally aligning the sheet material and is assigned to an upper pile region; and a device for performing the method.
