A cooking appliance includes: a cooking cavity with a bottom wall and a rear wall. A convection fan is disposed adjacent to the rear wall of the cooking cavity. A gas burner is located in a subjacent space beneath the bottom wall and adjacent to the rear wall of the cooking cavity. A heat duct provides communication through the bottom wall and includes an inlet positioned directly above and adjacent to the gas burner through which combustion gases from the gas burner can enter the heat duct. An annular portion of the heat duct defines a pass-through opening in which the convection fan is disposed. Flames from the gas burner extend upwardly toward or through the inlet of the heat duct and are substantially isolated from turbulent air flow generated by the convection fan.

The present disclosure is related to a dual ring gas burner wherein the outer ring includes multipoint injection with bottom breathing and the inner ring works with top breathing. Two flame rings are included along with burner ports on the caps. As a result, better heating distribution is achieved along with greater ease in cleaning and combined simmer functions with high ratings by having the outer ring gas flow not interfering with the inner ring.

A gas burner assembly for a cooktop appliance including an upper chamber, a first plurality of burner ports, a lower chamber and a second plurality of burner ports. A first fuel-gas injector is configured to direct a first stream of fuel gas into the upper chamber, thereby drawing surrounding air to yield injection of a first mixture of fuel gas and air into the upper chamber. A second fuel-gas injector directs a second stream of fuel gas into a secondary opening that communicates with the lower chamber, thereby drawing surrounding air to yield injection of a second mixture of fuel gas and air into the lower chamber. The upper chamber being isolated from the lower chamber so that the first mixture of fuel gas and air in the upper chamber does not mix with the second mixture of fuel gas and air in the lower chamber.

A gas valve for a cooking appliance is provided and includes a valve housing defining a valve chamber therein. A plug is disposed within the valve chamber. A valve stem interacts with the plug such that rotation of the valve stem correspondingly rotates the plug to selectively permit a flow of gas through the gas valve. The valve stem is axially translatable between a locked position wherein rotation thereof is inhibited and an unlocked position wherein rotation thereof is permitted. A first spring exerts a compressive force against the valve stem, toward the plug, to bias the valve stem into the locked position. A second spring exerts a compressive force against the plug in order to seat the plug within the valve chamber regardless whether the valve stem is in the locked or the unlocked position.

Gas valve for a cooktop appliance

A gas burner includes a base with a first body and a raised annular band on an upper surface of the first body. A flange is formed about an outer periphery of the first body wherein the raised annular band and the flange define a first annular recess therebetween. A first notch is formed in a lower surface of the first body and extends through the flange and communicates with the first annular recess. The first notch is adapted to accommodate spark ignitor therein. A slot is formed in the raised annular band. A first cap includes a peripheral side wall having a distal end dimensioned to be received within the first annular recess. A gap between the distal end and a bottom wall of the first annular recess when the first cap is received therein provides fluid communication between the slot and the first notch.

An electromagnetic interference (EMI) shield for gas cooktops is disclosed herein. The EMI shield protects electromagnetic fields output by a high voltage spark ignition system from interfering with sensitive low voltage controls for the cooktop. Accordingly, the low voltage controls and similar elements are mounted on one side of the EMI shield and the high voltage spark ignition system, burners, and similar elements are mounted on another side of the EMI shield. In order to connect elements on each side of the EMI shield as may be necessary (e.g., electrical wires and gas tubing), the EMI shield can have a plurality of small openings. The EMI shield may also provide a mount for controls and/or a user interface for displaying information and controlling the cooktop.

Provided is a broil burner including a generally-tubular gas conduit configured to extend between a rearward region of an oven cavity and a forward region of the oven cavity. The gas conduit includes an inlet that cooperates with a gas source to convey a combustible gas from the gas source to the gas conduit, and a plurality of apertures through which the combustible gas exits the gas conduit to be combusted. A reflector is provided, and extends between opposing segments of the gas conduit to reflect heat generated by combustion of the combustible gas in a downward direction, generally toward a central region of the oven cavity.

An apparatus includes a gas burner assembly which includes a gas burner and a gas supply conduit. The gas burner includes a gas supply opening and a substantially cylindrical socket formed on the exterior of the gas burner around the gas supply opening. The gas supply conduit includes an opening at an end and a substantially tubular adjoining section proximate to the opening. The adjoining section is configured to mate with the socket and includes a substantially radial protrusion. The socket includes a substantially radial depression for receiving the protrusion. As the gas supply conduit is connected with the gas burner to establish fluid communication at the gas supply opening, the protrusion is engaged in the depression thereby aligning the adjoining section in a predetermined manner about the socket and restricting rotational movement of the adjoining section about the socket.

A gas burner for a cooking appliance includes at least one combustion chamber with a first gas inlet forming a substantially annular outer flame ring and a substantially annular inner flame ring. At least one flame channel is configured to trigger ignition of at least one of the inner flame ring and outer flame ring. In one example, at least one transfer burner port is in gas-flow communication with the combustible gas in the at least one combustion chamber.

A cooking apparatus includes a cooking cavity and a heat source located within the cooking cavity. A shield is mounted relative to the heat source wherein the shield includes at least one side edge with an undulating pattern. The undulating pattern is configured to deflect heat from the heat source to different sections of the cooking cavity to provide a substantially uniform distribution of heat within the cooking cavity.
