A device may detect a user interaction, via a user interface, with a particular component of a model. The device may generate a set of components, associated with the particular component, based on detecting the user interaction with the particular component of the model. The device may cause a representation of the set of components to be provided, via the user interface, in association with the model. The representation may indicate that the set of components are associated with permitting interoperability.

Port management for graphical modeling

A system and method creates a plurality of different ring components for a referenced model included within a parent model. The ring components include values for one or more model-level, block-level, and signal-level attributes of the referenced model. One or more ring components are selected and assigned to the referenced model in the context of the parent model. During execution of the parent model, information from the selected ring component is accessed and used to control execution of the referenced model. During code generation for the parent model, information from the selected ring component is accessed and used to control the code generation process for the referenced model.

Model ring component

A device may receive a model for code generation. The device may determine to preserve continuity with a first generated code associated with the model. The device may receive, based on determining to preserve continuity, a first generation record associated with the first generated code. The first generation record may include information associated with generation of the first code. The device may generate second code based on the model and the first generation record. The device may create a second generation record based on the second generated code. The second generation record may include information associated with generation of the second code. The device may provide the second generated code.

Code continuity preservation during automatic code generation

A system and method provides top-down programming in a graphical programming environment. A developer may utilize a component constructor to create a graphical skeleton component that represents a template for a procedure. The graphical skeleton component may include one or more hole elements that mark locations in the component at which functions may be specified. An instance of the component may be included in a graphical model, and one or more functions specified for the hole elements, thereby completing the component. The one or more functions may refer to model parameters, and bindings may be captured among the parameters. Upon execution or simulation of the model, the one or more functions specified for the component are executed, and the parameters evaluated. The functionality of the completed may depend on the one or more functions specified for the hole elements.

Templatized component

Methods and systems for controlling versions of models in modeling environments are disclosed. The versions of models and component interfaces are stored in a repository and checked in and out of the repository. The version designation of a model is changed when the model is checked in the repository. A selected version of the model is checked out of the repository and loaded directly in a memory so that users may load the selected version of the model without error. The loaded model is displayed with information on the version of the model. The version information may include the version number and author of the version. The version information may also include information on whether the model is locked with a version or in a read only mode.

Version control in modeling environments

In an embodiment, a method for managing and monitoring a graphical top model includes executing the graphical top model. The graphical top model references multiple instances of at least one graphical model. The method also generates a graphical user interface that displays a component from a graphical model. The displayed component is referenced by at least two of the model instances. The graphical user interface displays a current calling hierarchy indicative of a specific model instance that is associated with the displayed component.

Graphical interface for managing and monitoring the status of a graphical model

An exemplary embodiment may provide a repository for containing representations that represent a model or a portion of the model. A user may store the representations in the repository, for example, as functions. The functions stored in the repository may be shared and used for processing another model that includes a pattern performing the same or similar function as the representations stored in the repository. A checksum may be compared to determine an equivalent function in the repository. In a different embodiment, the intermediate representation of the pattern may be compared to determine an equivalent function in the repository.

Sharing of instructions across model boundaries

Methods and systems for partitioning objects in modeling environments are disclosed. The modeling environments enable users to partition an object (parent object) to include other objects (child objects). The parent object may reference the child objects (referenced objects). The child objects may be subsystems in the hierarchy of the parent object or modules (or units) in the partitioning of the parent object. The child objects may be encapsulated so that changes in the parent object do not affect the child objects. The partition of the parent object may allow users to load and compile the parent object incrementally. The partition of the parent object may also allow users to generate code for the parent object incrementally.

Partitioning a model in modeling environments

A method is provided that includes pattern-matching portions of a block diagram model as being equivalent, and creation of a common set of instructions in place of the occurrences of the pattern-matched portions to enhance the efficiency of simulation or generated code for the block diagram model, such as by a reduced image size. Diagnostics are also available to provide information on the execution structure of the block diagram and guidance on how to modify block of the block diagram to obtain reduced image size by increasing the amount of matching patterns. Also, automatically generated hierarchical structures, a tool to control the function signature and the ability for a user to control file packaging which all provide flexible control over the generated code for block diagrams, are provided.
